Teen Sex | Sex Assault Added To Teen Abduction Charge

MONCTON - A Moncton teen charged in connection with the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl in May is now also charged with sexually assaulting that girl, prior to her disappearance.

Leticia Skye Chappell, 18, appeared in Moncton provincial court with defence lawyer Wendell Maxwell Thursday morning to elect and plead on several charges, but the case was set over until early October. Maxwell explained to the court Chappell is applying for Legal Aid and he will not be her lawyer for the case, so the judge granted the adjournment.

The accused is charged with breaching an undertaking to have no contact with a 13-year-old Moncton girl, abducting that girl, perjury and public mischief for making false statements to police during the investigation.

Chappell was arrested and made her first court appearance on May 19. She was released from custody the next day after a bail hearing and was placed on several conditions. She can't have any contact with the girl, is banned from using a computer and is on a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

She's also not allowed to have contact with any member of the girl's family or Jody Lynn Beaulieu, who's a co-accused.
