Sex | Senate Committee Approves Bill Banning Some Sex Offenders From Social Networking Sites

The Judiciary C Committee gave unanimous support to House Bill 55 by Rep. Ledricka Thierry, D-Opelousas, a measure backed by Gov. Bobby Jindal.

Thierry said that based on current information about 1,000 sex offenders in Louisiana would be barred from using the Internet sites.

Jindal has characterized the bill as another way police can crack down on child sex predators, whom he has referred to as "monsters."

The bill would create the crime of "unlawful use or access of social media" for any sex offender convicted of a sex crime in which the victim was a minor.

It also would ban the use of the sites by offenders who have been convicted of specific crimes including indecent behavior with a juvenile, pornography involving juveniles, computer-aided solicitation of minors and video voyeurism.

The bill not only bans use of the sites but also prohibits sex offenders from creating profiles or web pages about themselves and making them available to the general public.

Thierry said her bill would allow offenders to use a social networking site, instant messaging system or chat room with permission from the court that had original jurisdiction over their cases or their probation or parole officers, possibly to aid them in finding work.

First-time offenders under Thierry's bill could be jailed for up to 10 years and fined up to $10,000. Repeat offenders would be fined up to $20,000 and jailed for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years.

"We want to prohibit our children from having contact with these people," Thierry said.

Without the bill, she said, law enforcement has to wait for the offender to set up a meeting with a victim before an arrest can be made. The bill, Thierry said, could allow the arrest to be made before a meeting is arranged.

"This will make it a crime (for sex offenders) to even set up a profile" on a social networking site, she said.

The panel also approved House Bill 187 by Rep. Bobby Badon, D-Carencro, to deny a free state-issued ID to sex offenders 60 years old and older.

State law now allows those who do not drive and are at least 60 to have a free state ID, including elderly sex offenders. Badon said his bill would deny that privilege to 685 sex convicted sex offenders.

The panel also approved House Bill 72 by Rep. Jerry "Truck" Gisclair, D-Larose, to require any chief of police named to a non-municipal police force -- such as those who run college or port police agencies -- to take an executive management course and annual continuing education courses if named to their jobs as of Jan. 1, 2012.

Gisclair said police chiefs of cities and parish sheriffs must now take the courses and the police chiefs of the non-municipal departments should live by the same requirements.

The three House bills go to the full Senate for debate.

Sex | Sex Talk At Library

Sex is expected to be on the minds of many visitors to the Dunedin Public Library next month, when international author Pamela Stephenson-Connolly talks about her latest book, Sex Life.

Dr Stephenson-Connolly is best known as the wife and biographer of Scottish comedian Billy Connolly, but her career as a comedienne and sex therapist means she is no shrinking violet when it comes to talking about her own successes.

Sex Life is a cradle-to-the-grave exploration of healthy attitudes to sex, and how sex can evolve as we grow and mature.

The curiosity and questions that many people have are answered in the book by sharing the experiences of a diverse range of people who contributed to her research.

Dr Stephenson-Connolly will be at the library on June 15, from 5.30pm, and people are encouraged to book as soon as possible to avoid missing the talk.

Lesbians | In South Africa's Black Townships, Being Gay Can Be Fatal

The thick smoke, from a fire kindled by a traditional healer, covers the faces of those who have come to grieve, bringing new tears. Noxolo's aunt, Nonyaniso Nogwaza, knows that she is here, somewhere, beyond the smoke that will bleach out the evil that still lurks.

In one particularly appalling case this month, a 13-year-old girl was gang-raped because of her sexual orientation, according to South Africa 's Justice Department.

Noxolo's name means peace. She loved soccer and Kwaito music, a kind of hip-hop, and grew up hanging around boys and behaving like one. The 24-year-old lived with her grandmother and her closest confidant was her aunt, Nonyaniso. The two never spoke about Noxolo's sexuality; it wasn't necessary.

"I knew about it, the way she was acting. She didn't tell me exactly, but I saw. The way she dressed and the way she liked to associate with guys. She dressed like a guy."

Noxolo left the Bar Lounge in this township east of Johannesburg in the early hours of Easter, April 24. She was attacked in a lane behind a supermarket, about 50 yards from a group of houses. She was raped with a broken bottle, repeatedly stabbed with broken glass and battered with bricks. Her teeth were knocked out and her head partially crushed by a cinder block.

"I don't want to cry. I'm not going to cry," Nonyaniso says, remembering her niece's body, stripped of dignity. But the tears escape. "They killed her like a dog, like an animal. She was so wonderful. I lost a friend. I lost a sister."

Nonyaniso used to buy her niece men's clothing. Now she is taking care Noxolo's two children, Lindiwe, a 4-year-old girl, and Sipho, a 7-year-old boy.

South Africa has a liberal constitution promising equal rights for all, and cosmopolitan Cape Town has a thriving gay scene. But for black lesbians living in urban townships, it's little better than in many other countries on a homophobic continent.

In a society that is deeply religious, traditional and highly patriarchal, lesbians and gay men contradict the dominant view of African manhood.

Across Africa, gay people are threatened, humiliated, raped, beaten, killed, jailed, outed in front-page newspaper stories, condemned by preachers as un-Christian and by politicians and traditional leaders as un-African. In Uganda, a measure setting forth the death penalty for homosexuality was proposed, but recently that penalty was dropped from the bill, which is yet to go to the parliament.

In South African townships there's a crime dubbed "corrective rape," rape to "cure" lesbians, and sometimes gay men and transsexuals. They are told they are being taught a lesson: how to be a real woman or man, survivors say.

"They say, 'We'll sort you out. At the end of the day, you are a woman. You have to find a man.' They feel that being gay is not African and we are bringing another culture to the community," says Ntsupe Mohapi, 38, a gay activist in Kwa-Thema who has been threatened and taunted, but not attacked.

Besides Noxolo, two other openly gay women have been killed in Kwa-Thema since 2008. All played soccer as well as, or better than, most men. All of them dressed in a masculine style.

"Homosexuality is seen as an import from the West. We are seen as betrayers of culture and betrayers of tradition … some kind of imperialistic force that is attacking the African way of life," says Fikile Vilakazi of the Coalition of African Lesbians. The group's Western funding reinforces suspicions.

Surrounded by stretches of dry grassland and factories, Kwa-Thema's streets echo with car horns and music. Unemployed people walk aimlessly, in seeming slow motion. A graffitied rock urges people to "PRAY NOW." A dilapidated factory has been converted into a church. A man sits on an upturned bucket, selling bananas. Girls in tight tops, miniskirts and leggings trail about the streets. Vast liquor warehouses serve the poor.

For years, Mohapi says, the township was so tolerant of homosexuals that gay people moved from other parts of the country to live here.

"The history here was that gays and lesbians were not afraid," says Mohapi, who wears a cap and jeans with fashionable holes. She was raised in an extremely religious family and suppressed her sexuality until she was 20, fearing her parents' reaction. She moved out of her family home and wrote her mother a letter, explaining. The two never speak of it, although they are very close.

Sex | Women Are Not Sex Objects; Cocktail Waitresses, On The Other Hand.

I have to do something I hate doing. I have to give Gloria Allred some publicity. Sure, I have to mention her only in order to say that I think she's wrong and using the plight of women to further her own fame. But I still have to mention her, which is what she wants. It's a great system she's set up for herself: she wins even when people talk about how ridiculous she is.

But I can't ignore Allred here because now she is messing with something near and dear to my heart: scantily clad cocktail waitresses in Atlantic City. That's right, I live on the East Coast. That means I can't easily get to Las Vegas or New Orleans. That means occasionally I have to go get my gambling fix in A.C. If you've never been to Atlantic City, imagine Vegas after the apocalypse: everything is broken and rundown and more desperate-looking. It's pathetic. And you feel pathetic while you are there (until you start hitting some points and the table gets hot and you find yourself nailing a hard ten and it feels like the whole casino gives you a high five).

One casino was doing something about that depressing ambiance. It was getting rid of all of its old cocktail waitresses. Believe me when I tell you that this is an important move. Imagine sitting in A.C. down a grand at 4 a.m. and starting to think to yourself if there is any Swingers potential and then your watered-down drink comes back only it's brought to you by a woman old enough to be your grandmother. And so instead of trying to figure out how to have sex with the waitress, you're sitting there kind of thinking of how your mother would disapprove if she saw you in that moment. It's enough to make you want to kill yourself.

It's certainly enough to make you want to stop gambling. And now along comes Gloria Allred, trying to tell people that 50-year-old cocktail waitresses at casinos are still sexy, and can't be fired….

The Newark Star-Ledger has the basics of the lawsuit :

Attorney Gloria Allred said the latest lawsuit was filed this morning in Atlantic City on behalf of nine former beverage servers who were told they were fired from the casino because they did not "meet uniform requirements."

It follows a similar suit brought by other former Resorts servers in March, and another by former employees who performed other tasks and were let go when the casino changed hands in December.

"They were fired because they got older, because as beautiful as they are, they didn't met someone's definition of ‘sexy,'" said Virginia Hardwick, a New Jersey attorney participating in the case.

Here's all I need to know about the cocktail-waitress plaintiffs:

Margie DePamphilis, 54….

Elsa Hernandez, a 57-year-old grandmother….

Marie Stewart, 66….

Stop right there. Just stop. Surely we can live in a society where we can say 66 years old is too old to be a cocktail waitress without risking litigation. Surely I don't have to explain why maybe it's time for the 57-year-old woman to start serving drinks at Bennigan's instead of a casino.

And it's not like this casino had some kind of age cap where waitresses were automatically fired after they reached a certain age:

[O]lder servers were told they had to audition for their jobs in the new skimpy flapper costumes, were given costumes too small for them and were photographed in awkward poses that emphasized body fat. A panel put together by an outside modeling agency recommended who should stay and who should go based on photographs of the auditions, according to court documents.

See, they weren't fired once they got old, they were fired once they started to look old. Legally, that's a big difference.

Hot Sex | 7 Hot Women Who Voiced Not-So-Hot Cartoons

Last week's season finale of "Family Guy" reminded us that despite all the funny cutaways and memorable quotes, the one thing we still can't wrap our heads around is that the smoking hot Mila Kunis is the voice of the very unsexy Meg Griffin.

It works the other way around as well. For instance, Kathleen Turner's sultry voice is fitting for red-headed bombshell Jessica Rabbit, but the actress herself isn't exactly a looker anymore. But that's a much rarer case, you'll see, given this list of six more sexy, hot, famous ladies who lent their pretty pipes to ugly animated characters.

Mila has proven in films "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Black Swan" that she's more than just an ordinary beauty, which is why playing someone whose biggest character trait is being ridiculed for her own repulsiveness feels so wrong.

Compared to a lot of the other characters in the "SpongeBob SquarePants" universe, Princess Mindy is without a doubt one of the better looking underwater inhabitants. But between her sickly skin color and dorky attire, we'd rather fantasize about the real-life ScarJo as a mermaid instead.

Okay, so Fergie wasn't even old enough to be considered a sex symbol when she recorded the voice of Peppermint Patty for the early '80s Saturday morning cartoon, but we're counting it, if only so we can make jokes about the Black Eyed Peas singer exploring her sexuality at a young age.

Though the late Brittany Murphy actually did double duty on "King of the Hill" as the prepubescent Joseph Gribble, the actress is best known for voicing Hank Hill's trailer-trash niece, Luanne. She's supposed to be attractive within the context of the show, but we'd be lying if we said Mike Judge's trademark visual style did his characters any favors in the looks department.

Isla Fisher may be drop-dead gorgeous, but she's also a little on the goofy side (you don't marry Borat if you're not), so we can understand why she'd want to do something as offbeat as voicing a talking desert iguana. Unfortunately, Beans is straight up creepy looking and has a name that only a fat, redneck truck driver could love.

Stacey Gibson only appeared in a single episode of "King of the Hill," but we couldn't leave her off the list, considering she's voiced by one of the most underrated beauties in the business. You won't find Alyson Hannigan on the cover of any celebrity gossip magazines, but she's still the star of many geek fantasies.

The former "Freaks and Geeks" star definitely had us thinking twice about which of the Mystery Inc. gang's female detectives was hotter in the live-action "Scooby-Doo" films, but in animated form, Velma Dinkey is every bit the homely nerd she's always been. Being reminded of that via the unforgiving medium of Claymation only makes the comparison worse.

Sex | Hotel Sex Assault Cases: Are Housekeepers Safe?

After alleged sexual assaults by two high-profile international businessmen in New York City in the last couple weeks, many are saying it is time to give more protection to hotel workers, especially vulnerable housekeepers.

"These working women are afraid if they complain about a guest they won't be heard, they will be ignored, they will be shamed," Lorena Lopez, a spokeswoman for the Housekeeper Equality Initiative, told ABC News.

Mahmoud Abdel Salam Omar , 74, a prominent former Egyptian bank chairman, was accused Sunday of sexually assaulting a housekeeper at the posh Pierre Hotel in New York City.

Sources say on Sunday at 6 p.m., Omar called to have tissues delivered to his $1,000-a-night suite.

A 44-year-old hotel maid said that when she arrived at the room, Omar, wearing pajamas, asked her to leave the tissues on a table. He then allegedly locked the door and tried to kiss and grope her.

The maid said she told Omar, "I am not here for that," at which point he allegedly stoped and asked her for her phone number. After slipping him false digits, the maid said she was able to get away and immediately reported the incident to supervisors.

Omar was arrested on charges of sexual assault and unlawful imprisonment.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn , the former head of the International Monetary Fund, is under house arrest in Manhattan after a grand jury indicted him on seven charges relating to an alleged sexual assault on a hotel maid at the Sofitel Hotel in midtown Manhattan on May 14.

Hotel union officials insist requests of sex, sex for money and even outright assaults can all go underreported because housekeepers, who often come from immigrant backgrounds, are scared to lose their jobs.

"They're put in a very difficult situation," Lopez said. "If they speak out, their job might be on the line. The guest is always right. They're afraid to speak out and complain to management because they know they might be disciplined and might be found guilty."

The Pierre Hotel released a statement on Tuesday saying, "The Pierre's priority is the safety of our guests and staff. We take all complaints very seriously and investigate thoroughly. This incident has been formally reported to the New York Police Department and is under investigation. And we will fully comply with the investigation as requested."

Hotels also don't always act promptly to address complaints of sexual assault, Lopez said. In the case of the maid allegedly attacked by Omar, union president Peter Ward said that the superintendant to whom she reported the incident only noted it in a log book. It was only after another supervisor saw the entry the next day that police were contacted.

The Pierre Hotel has since suspended the supervisor who told a room attendant to wait a day before telling security she was groped, according to the union that represents the victim. The union said the hotel has assured them management will enhance training and work towards the implementation of a panic device for employees to keep this sort of thing from happening again.

Union officials say hotels should make sure housekeepers work with another person in close proximity, doors are left open during cleaning and maids have the option of wearing long pants instead of dresses.

Sex | Sex Offender Accused In Vista Rapes, Kidnapping Arrested In Oceanside

Deputies took 33-year-old Jeremy Ryan Stutzman into custody without incident at a motel in the 900 block of North Coast Highway in Oceanside shortly before 3:30 p.m., sheriff's Lt. Jim Duffy said.

Authorities had been searching for Stutzman since late Monday night, after a 20-year-old Vista woman reported that she had been sexually assaulted by a neighbor at the South Santa Fe Drive apartment complex where she lives, according to sheriff's officials.

The woman told detectives that a 19-year-old friend of hers also had been raped by the same long-haired man, then threatened with a knife and taken against her will in a charcoal-gray 2005 Toyota Corolla owned by the older woman, Lt. Larry Nesbit said.

About 9 a.m. Tuesday, the abductor dropped the teenager off near her residence and drove away in an unknown direction, authorities said.

The victims identified the alleged assailant as Stutzman, a parolee-at-large and a resident of the apartment complex where both women live.

Deputies and members of a fugitive task force looked for the ponytailed suspect, who has a prior history of sexual battery, for nearly 16 hours before finding him and the stolen car at the coast-area motel.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. For an earlier story, read below.

VISTA (CNS) - Sheriff's deputies Tuesday sought a 33-year-old registered sex offender who allegedly raped two women at a Vista apartment complex, then held one of them against her will, possibly at knifepoint.

Deputies were sent to Mill Creek Apartments in the 2100 block of South Santa Fe Drive about 11:15 p.m. Monday by a 20-year-old woman who reported being raped, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Munsey.

The victim told investigators her 19-year-old friend was raped by the same man and held against her will in a gray 2005 Toyota Corolla owned by one of the women, Munsey said.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, sheriff's spokeswoman Melissa Aquino said that the younger woman was found safe. More information is expected to be made public at a 10:30 a.m. news conference.

The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Jeremy Ryan Stutzman, the lieutenant said.

The alleged crimes allegedly took place at his apartment.

According to the Megan's Law database, Stutzman, who has a history of sexual battery, is a 6-foot-1, 192-pound American Indian with long black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos on his chest and was last seen shirtless, in blue jeans and a black jacket, Aquino said.

The Corolla that Stutzman is believed to be driving has a sticker of a white fox with a bow on the back window and a California license plate No. 6RXG434.

Porn | Notorious Child-Porn Photos Lead To Record Prison Sentence

Details pulled five years ago by an investigator in France from a notorious series of obscene Internet photographs resulted in the imposition Tuesday of what is believed to be most severe sentence ever in a Connecticut child pornography prosecution.

A federal judge in Bridgeport sentenced truck driver William Oehne, who is 50 years old, to 45 years in prison for taking pornographic photographs of the 9-year-old daughter of a former girlfriend and using the Internet to distribute the images to pedophiles around the world. Specifically, U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall sentenced Oehne to 30 years for the production of child pornography and a consecutive 15 years for distribution of child pornography.

In their argument for severity, federal prosecutors attacked the insidious nature of child pornography in the Internet age, describing it as a crime that makes children victims for life when pedophiles around the world continuously trade exploitive images of them.

"As a result, the heinous pictures he created have become some of the most-viewed images of child pornography available on the Internet today, ensuring that his victim will continue to be victimized by traders and viewers of child pornography for the rest of her life," U.S. Attorney David B. Fein said.

Oehne was accused of photographing the victim between 2004 and 2006, when he lived with the girl's mother in Fairfield County . When he was arrested in Virginia in 2009, he told a detective that the girl's mother invited him to move into her home after she noticed his profile on a computer dating network for single people.

Seizures of computer files by law enforcement agencies suggest that Oehne's photographs are being widely collected in the U.S. and abroad. In the U.S. alone, the photographic images have been found in computer libraries seized in 3,300 criminal investigations. Law enforcement officials have encountered only two or three other sets of pornographic images more frequently, authorities said.

Computer crime investigators have discovered Oehne's photographs so often that, before the victim was identified, authorities gave the images a name, the "T series," and used it for training purposes. It was the very popularity of the photographs that kept them before law enforcement. That popularity contributed to the identification of the victim and, ultimately, to Oehne's arrest, according to material filed in federal court.

An FBI agent discovered the photographs on the Internet in January 2006, after Oehne installed a file-sharing program on his computer that allowed the images to be distributed among pedophiles. Within days, law enforcement officers in Lyon, France, discovered the same images in Europe .

The European police agency INTERPOL developed the lead that identified the victim by magnifying two details found in the background of the photographs: a commemorative plate and a child's Mickey Mouse hat. The plate bore a girl's first name and what investigators then suspected was the girl's birth date. The same name had been stenciled on the hat, according to court records.

The name and birth date were distributed among U.S. police agencies in 2006. After three years and a frustrating series of investigative dead ends, FBI agents in New Haven concluded in March 2009 that the victim probably lived in Fairfield County, according to court records.

They discovered that, two years earlier, in 2007, Oehne's victim brought a sex-abuse complaint against him. An unidentified Connecticut agency investigated the complaint but dropped the matter when the victim, then about age 12, denied when interviewed that the abuse had taken place.

On March 30, 2009, the FBI interviewed the victim again. That time, she reported that Oehne began abusing and photographing her when he moved into her home. Connecticut agents also determined that Oehne was living outside of Richmond , Va., where he was free on bail after being charged with the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl.

Authorities in Connecticut reported the information the same day to a law enforcement computer crimes task force in Virginia. The information was assigned to a Virginia State Police detective who had reviewed, as part of his training, the pornographic photographs that Oehne had distributed on the Internet, according to court records.

While examining the photographs, the Virginia detective noticed that at least one contained the image of a man's hand with two rings on the fingers.

"I found a number of images," the Virginia detective testified in October during a hearing in Bridgeport on Oehne's case. "One image of a child and one image that there was an adult male visible with rings on his hand. From the waist down is all you can see of him."

The officer had enlargements made of the rings, which were found during a search of Oehne's possessions. He was arrested before the day was over.

Hot Sex | 'The Real Housewives Of New Jersey' Recap: The Love Letter

Happy Memorial Day, NJ Housewives watchers! Did you return early from your barbecues early to watch tonight's tepid episode in which Teresa tried to make peace with her little brother? Or did you stay out late eating hot dogs and beer and downing all the other ingrediences of a good holiday weekend festivities?

Yes, ingrediences. You know, ones like that spice "come-in." Oh, sweet Teresa. So much hair on top of that head and sometimes I question what's inside. Not that it's hurting her much. We first saw Teresa tonight walking into a shoot for her cookbook, presumably so she could diss every photo that the "food stylist" took. Meatballs? Not enough sauce. Chicken drumsticks? Hers are browner. Some other dish? No parsley. Well, it's that kind of attention to detail that makes someone a best-selling cookbook author, right? That, and knowing how to make the word "ingredient" into plural. Okay. Just the first one.

Juicy Joe (ugh " I'm so uncomfortable with that nickname) called in during the book meeting to inform "Tre" that he'd run into Joe Gorga at the gym. Even the bejeweled orange smart phone couldn't mask the bile coming out of husband Joe's mouth when he said he wished he'd bleeped up her brother.

Meanwhile, at the gargantuan Gorga estate, Joe Gorga wasn't as concerned with running into Joe Guidice because he had other things on his mind. "Poisonous" things. Man, this guy has issues. Melissa is starting to look more and more sane by the week because we're seeing her alongside her terrifying husband. "Sometimes Joe will complain if we don't have enough sex," she explained. And if you didn't already leave the room shouting "La La La"and covering your ears, you would have heard how Joe wanted some action after the fashion show, Melissa was too tired, Joe thought she should have downed espresso, etc. Once she got her horndog husband off the topic of sex, she turned the conversation to Teresa. (An uncomfortable segue if ever there was one.) Melissa urged him to get back in touch with her lest he become one of those "typical Italians" who's estranged from his family. Not that Joe's sex drive was done for the episode. He went at his wife again while the kids were in the bath (what is up with that? It's creepy how watching his children bathe always drags his mind toward sex!), telling her that she's a MILF and that "our father is a very sexual man. I guess I take after my father." Again with the father? Let. The. Daddy. Issues. Go. And while you're at it, stop talking about all the sex you want to have with your wife while your children are in the room. Or a camera crew is in the room. (What's that? Oh, it's Melissa, wanting me to add the line, "Or when your wife is in the room.")

NEXT: Anything but Joe Gorga talking about sex

Porn | Young Sister Exposed To Brother's Porn Habit

Dear Straight Talk: I'm 15. I share a room with my 17-year-old brother because our mom can only afford two bedrooms. We have a computer in our room and I've noticed him looking at pornographic sites when he doesn't realize I'm paying attention. He has never tried anything sexual with me and I don't think he would, but it makes me nervous sharing a room when he's looking at stuff like this. I've stopped undressing in front of him and now change in the bathroom. I don't want to get him in trouble by telling our mom. What can I do? - Nervous Sister, Toledo, Ohio

Omari 17, Wellington, Florida: The easiest solution is to tell your brother you see him watching pornography. Hopefully he will be embarrassed and cease when you are around - or, better, stop altogether. Another way to get results is to threaten to tell your mom. I'm not saying blackmail him, but with a threat looming, he will definitely never let you see him watching porn again. The important thing is that you both show respect for each other. Communication is key.

Nate 17, Toledo, Ohio: I attend an all-boys high school where girls and porn are common topics. But a young man should have boundaries - especially in a situation like this. If he doesn't control the temptation, tell your mother. Hopefully, she can convince him to stop.

Justin 22, Redding Why go to your mom without talking to him first? Yes, looking at porn is quite normal today, but it is not OK to make others uncomfortable,

Hannah 17, Safford, Ariz. Pornography is destructive. It can become addictive with negative side effects. Tell your mother secretly. It's in his best interest.

Chuck 16, Toledo, Ohio: I am anti-porn and don't watch it. However, watching porn is definitely the norm for boys at my school so I'm not surprised by your problem. What I think is happening is that porn has become so common and is so instantly gratifying, with nobody setting limits on it, that when a lot of guys are unable to break the habit, they tend to accept it as a new norm in their life and a trend is born. It's a very difficult habit to break.

Dear Nervous Sister: I agree with the panelists. Talk to your brother. If he keeps looking at clips when you're there, spill the beans. In the meantime, address the core problem like this: Without implicating your brother, drop articles about pornography on the kitchen table "for a paper you might write." This will get a conversation going - one every household should be having. The average age of first Internet exposure to pornography is 11. By 15, multiple hardcore exposures are (as Chuck confirms) "the norm." Watching today's gonzo porn is not like keeping a "Penthouse" under the bed in 1970. Much of popular pornography is stunningly unnatural and/or violent. Also, video has a deeper neurological effect than print - and, like playing with matches, it especially burns into the pre-pubescent mind.

Sex is natural. Male attraction to visual cues is natural. Video pornography is not. I believe that centuries of sexual repression is fueling pornography's popularity. But honest intimate relationships will liberate sexuality, not watching porn stars. Consuming pornography is like trying to nourish oneself with junk food. Parents need to explain this to their children and establish rules.

For more discussion, to ask a question, or inquire about being a youth panelist, visit www.straighttalkTNT.com or write POB 963 Fair Oaks, CA 95628.

More from Lauren Forcella: Like smoking cigarettes was considered safe and normal in its heyday, pornography is now having its heyday and many people, young and old, male and female, are hotly defending it as "normal."

I consider consensual, age-appropriate sex to be normal and healthy and one of the great pleasures of being human. I'm all for ending sexual repression. However, I don't believe that pornography is the solution. In fact, I believe it is taking us into its own repression, just as dark and strange as anywhere we've already been.

We teach our kids to say 'no' to cigarettes, why not pornography? Is everyone afraid of looking like a prude? Are parents too embarrassed? Not sure what the problem is, but people are increasingly pro porn. It was the same with cigarettes in their day and it took decades before the tide turned. When it did turn it was due to campaigns by smoke-free celebrities and cultural heroes. The same campaign needs to begin with porn. Where are the sexually liberated men and women with social capital who will stand up for living and loving porn-free? May you please step forward!

Like cigarettes, porn is everywhere available 24/7. Because it is impossible (not to mention unhealthy to monitor children 24/7), they need to be influenced to decide personally not to consume pornography. Parents can act right now by talking to their young children like they talk to them about cigarettes (many kids have awareness of pornography as early as age five). Every parent wants their child to grow up having successful intimate sexual relationships, nobody want to raise a pornography addict or a sex addict. It's time for parents to get over their inhibitions (or guilt for being a "smoker") and have these conversations, set expectations, and monitor the sites their kids are visiting on their computers and smart phones. -Lauren

Hot Sex | Feels Like The First Time

Do it like a newbie.

Remember when you first starting having sex? Sure, some of it was awful. The embarrassing fumblings, the premature finishes. But there was also something really great about it. Something innocent and new and surprising.

There was also something really hot about it. That abandon. That passion. That "I don't know what this is that we're doing, but let's not ever stop." Whatever happened to that? I don't know.

All I know is that all of that seems to change as we get older and things become, well, old hat. But it doesn't have to be that way. Here are five ways to bring all of that back into your sex life no matter how long you've been at it.

1. Go for it! People have such enthusiasm when they're new to it all. They can't wait to do it. And they're not ashamed to tell their partner just that. Something changes after you've been around for a while. You don't want to sound silly or needy or come across as an overenthusiastic kid.

Well, forget all of that. Tell your partner just how much you want him or her no matter how crazy or clich it might sound. And don't be shy. It can be very sexy to say exactly how you want to touch or lick or bite or take your partner. So tell it like it is. You'll be amazed at the result. A little enthusiasm can go a long way...

2. Experiment. There's a dangerous thing that can happen after you've been in the saddle for some time. You get into a rut. I guess people figure, "This works. Why mess with it?" But when sex is new, all you do is experiment. New positions. New props. New places.

So don't let your experience hold you back. Let it free you up to try whatever you feel so inclined to try. How about introducing some toys or maybe a little light bondage? Come on, you know there's a naughty side of you itching to come out and play. And if it doesn't work, who cares? Going back to the drawing board has never been so fun.

3. Sneak around. Depending on how young you were and what the circumstances were, getting down just might have required a little getting around...parents, siblings, friends, future mother-in-laws. There was something very sexy and exciting about worrying about getting caught.

All that goes away when you have a room of your own. So, why not pretend you don't? Sneak down to the family room after the kids go to bed. Or check into a local, swanky hotel. If you're feeling really adventurous, how about a hayloft or, dare I say it, the car? The point is to get out of your comfort zone and into your erogenous zones.

4. Take your time. Seems like it's all about how quickly can we get things done these days. We're tired. There aren't enough hours in the day. Someone else, everyone else needs us. It wasn't like that when we first started fooling around.

So carve out some time. There is always a way to make time when it can improve our relationships and feed our well-being. Carve out an hour or two. Turn off the phones. All of them. Tell everyone else to deal with it. Whatever "it" is and disappear into each other for a while.

Seriously. Disappear. And get back to why you fell for this person in the first place. Get back to the hunger and away from the humdrum. The great sex will be worth it in and of itself. But the recharge you'll get as well will be a welcome bonus.

5. Forget yourself. People tend to become more self-conscious the older they get. We start to ask ourselves all sorts of questions. How do I look naked? Do I look weird when I do this? What will he/she think of me tomorrow? What if I do this wrong?

But when we were young, we were full of ourselves and anxious to share just how great we are. Not one of those questions or the answers matter to your partner. All that matters to them is being with you. So, take on a little youthful self-centeredness and relax. You're with your partner for a reason. If you want to feel sexy, act sexy. If you want to be devoured, devour. If you want to get it, give it.

There are lots of things that are great about being past those early stages of sexual experimentation. But there are also plenty of things that have gotten lost along the way. But just because they're hidden, doesn't mean they're gone.

Bring them back. Bring back the excitement and breathlessness and the fun. Bring back the hot, sweaty, "please don't stop, I'm never going to ever let you go" kind of nights (or afternoons for that matter) that you used to have before you knew better. Forget behaving yourself. It's way over-rated.

It doesn't take much. Just a little time and attention. Trust me. You'll be glad you did.

Porn | Dead Or Alive: Dimensions - Where Are The Children?

The Australian mainstream media are controversy-stirring bigots who tend discredit anything – or anyone – that breathes. That statement is nothing new, but recent accusations that a Nintendo 3DS title, Dead or Alive: Dimensions, contains ‘child porn. has us asking the question; Where exactly are the children in the game?

Yesterday, Fairfax Media started a firestorm when they accused Dead or Alive: Dimensions of being a "child porn  game". Writer Asher Moses posted on several outlet sites that the game contains three characters that are described as being under 18;

Three of the game's characters – Ayane, Koroke[sic] and Kasumi – are described in the game as being under 18 years of age.

The in-game photography mode, which allows players to look up characters' dresses in certain poses, has been considered by some as potential child pornography as laws prohibit sexualised depictions of children even in cartoons.

We assume the mythical "Koroke" character is, in fact, Kokoro – but that's beside the point. As more Australian media outlets post damning reports of the game, we decided to actually boot up the title on the Nintendo 3DS and we found something interesting. None of the characters mentioned in the article are actually described as being under 18. These three images were taken off screen.

As you can see, none of the characters mentioned in the article have an age in the game. There is also no mention of ages of any characters in the game's instruction manual. So we ask again – how can there be child porn if there are no children? As you can see (or maybe not with my bad photography skills) there's no way one can determine the age of any of those characters.

We were also concerned about some misinformation circulating the internet in regards to the game's status in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. News Limited website News.com.au's Alex Dickinson stated that the game had been "taken off shelves in Europe";

The Federal Government has launched an investigation into Dead or Alive: Dimensions, which went on sale in Australia last week. It has already been taken off shelves in Europe for possibly breaking child pornography laws.

But was it actually taken off shelves? The answer, of course, is no. In a last minute decision, Nintendo cancelled the release of Dead or Alive: Dimensions in Sweden, Denmark and Norway – meaning it was never put on those shelves in the first place. Furthermore, since it was apparently Nintendo's decision, it remains a fact that the game wasn't "banned" anywhere – it was simply never released in those countries on the date they had originally intended.

Nintendo did not give any particular reason for the decision either way so it seems strange that the registered media would make vast accusations by attempting to connect the dots – dots which, some can argue, do not exist.

In conclusion, we have found no evidence of child porn. No evidence that the game has been, or should be, banned in any country. We've found no evidence that any game in the Dead or Alive franchise has been accused of containing child porn despite many of the games containing the exact same characters and, in some cases (Xtreme Beach Volley Ball) in even more "sexy" attire.

So – why now? Why Dimensions and why Nintendo 3DS? Is it a product of the media's "guilty until someone bothers to prove innocent" tendencies? Probably. But since the misinformed have managed to, according to the News Limited article, escalate the "problem" to the Minister for Home Affairs who has asked for an investigation into the content of the game, we urge Australian gamers to go out and buy the title now before the stupid, broken system takes out another extremely high quality title.

Porn | Starkville Man Arrested On Child Porn Possession

A Starkville man was arrested today on charges involving possession of child pornography, officials said.

Attorney General Jim Hood said John A. Brown, 60, was arrested just before noon today by AG's cyber crime investigators, as well as agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Starkville Police Department.

Brown is charged with one count possession of child pornography, officials said. If he's convicted, he faces up to 40 years behind bars.

"We've been steadily arresting people for this crime, but we're about to pick up some steam when the new law goes into effect July 1st that will provide us with even more resources to go after child pornographers," said Hood.

Hood was referring to Mississippi House Bill 227, the "Sexual Offenses Against Children" act, which increases punishment on violators found guilty of sexual offenses involving minors.

Sex | Sex Offender Sentenced To 15 More Months

A repeat sex offender has been sentenced to 15 months behind bars for molesting two young girls as they sat with him and played video games.

Justice Robert Cummings recently sentenced Michael Arthur Tummey to a total of 48 months, but subtracted 22 months for pre-sentence custody, leaving 15 months to serve.

Tummey was convicted of two counts of sexual interference at the end of a trial in May 2010.

Sentencing was delayed to allow preparation of a pre-sentence report and to gather other sentencing evidence.

Tummey was found guilty of molesting two young girls at his Brandon apartment in March 2009.

The sisters -- one eight years old and the other nine years old at the time -- lived in the same apartment block as Tummey.

The girls testified that they were groped as they sat with Tummey in a rocking chair and played video games.

The older girl also testified that Tummey once climbed into bed with her and molested her during a visit to her apartment.

It wasn't Tummey's first sex offence, and the girls' mother said she had no idea that her family had moved into the same building as a sex offender.

In 1986 in Atikokan, Ont., Tummey received a suspended sentence and probation for sexual assault.

Then, in Brandon in January 2005, he was sentenced to 12 months in jail for sexual interference for a crime that involved another young victim, plus another six months for violating probation orders.

In June 2008, he was sentenced to six months in jail for breaking probation orders by having contact with children.

Tummey, 46, has been diagnosed with a learning disorder, pedophilia and an impulse control disorder which may stem from fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

He's assessed as a high risk to re-offend and corrections recommends he be placed under a high level of supervision when he's released.

His sentence for his latest offences will be followed by three years probation which includes an order to take sex offender counselling.

He's also on a 15-year order banning him from being in public places where children tend to gather, such as parks and swimming pools.

He also can't hold a job or volunteer position that gives him authority over children.

Anal | Anal And Oral Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Infection In HIV Infected Subjects In ...

Methods: Patients with no previously documented HPV-related anogenital lesion/disease were recruited to participate in a longitudinal study. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed to detect HPV from oral and anal swabs and to detect Human Herpes Virus 8 (HHV-8) DNA in saliva on 2 separate specimen series, one collected at baseline and the other collected 6 months later.

A multivariate logistic analysis was performed using anal HPV infection as the dependent variable versus a set of covariates: age, HIV plasma viral load, CD4+ count, hepatitis B virus (HBV) serology, hepatitis C virus (HCV) serology, syphilis serology and HHV-8 viral shedding. A stepwise elimination of covariates with a p-value >0.1 was performed.

Results: The overall prevalence of HPV did not vary significantly between the baseline and the follow-up, either in the oral (20.1 and 21.3%, respectively) or the anal specimens (88.6 and 86.3%).

The prevalence of high-risk (HR) genotypes among the HPV-positive specimens was similar in the oral and anal infections (mean values 24.3% and 20.9%). Among 68 patients with either a HR, low-risk (LR) or undetermined genotype at baseline, 75% had persistent HPV and the persistence rates were 71.4% in HR infections and 76.7% in LR infections.

There was a lack of genotype concordance between oral and anal HPV samples. The prevalence of HR HPV in anus appeared to be higher in the younger patients, peaking (>25%) in the 43-50 years age group.

A decrease of the high level of anal prevalence of all genotypes of HPV in the patients >50 years was evident. HHV-8 oral shedding was positively related to HPV anal infection (p=0.0046).

A significant correlation was found between the persistence of HHV-8 shedding and HIV viral load by logistic bivariate analysis (Odds Ratio of HHV-8 persistence for 1-log increase of HIV viral load=1.725+/-0.397, p=0.018).

Conclusions: A high prevalence of HPV infection was found in our cohort of HIV-infected MSM, with a negative correlation between anal HPV infection and CD4 cell count.

Porn | Prosecutors Seek 50 Years For Child Molester

Times Staff Writer

STAMFORD -- The prosecution is seeking a 50-year prison sentence for a former Stamford man convicted of abusing an 8-year-old girl to produce child porn.

William Oehne will be sentenced Thursday at U.S. District Court in Bridgeport for one count of production of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

"The government believes that Oehne is a dangerous predator who will take any opportunity to engage in offensive behavior against minor females," United States Attorney David B. Fein wrote in a sentencing memorandum.

Oehne has been in federal custody since March 31, 2009, when he was arrested at his home in Virginia, according to Tom Carson, spokesman for the U. S. Attorney's Office, District of Connecticut.

From 2004 to 2006, Oehne is alleged to have manufactured a series of child sexual abuse images -- known to law enforcement as the "Tori" series -- and distributed the explicit pictures through the Internet, court documents state.

The girl -- who is referred to as "M.V." in court documents -- was 8 years old when Oehne began to abuse her, according to an affidavit. Oehne allegedly convinced the girl into performing sex acts by promising her gifts, according to the affidavit.

The images were traded via e-mail and uploaded onto peer-to-peer file-sharing networks, court documents state.

"Because these abusive images cannot be removed from the Internet, Oehne's crimes have ensured that M.V. will be revictimized each time they are viewed or distributed to other offenders, and she will therefore likely be subjected to the attendant physical and emotional suffering for the rest of her life," Fein writes.

For more than three years, the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children conducted an exhaustive investigation to identify the child victim in a widely circulated "Tori" child porn series, according to FBI documents.

The victim was finally located by federal authorities in 2009. During an interview with a specialist from the FBI Office of Victim Assistance, the victim identified Oehne as the suspect and disclosed the sexual abuse that had taken place, court documents state.

Oehne was arrested in Virginia in 2007 for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl, and he is also accused of molesting and taking illicit photographs of two underage girls in Virginia, according to court documents.

Fein states that Oehne continually made excuses and lied about his actions, at one point telling authorities that the 8-year-old victim made advances to him.

"In fact, the only plausible explanation for his conduct is that Oehne is a dangerous sexual predator who preys on the most vulnerable in our society," Fein writes.

Porn | Adele Can Help End 'faux Porn' Pop, Label Boss Claims

Richard Russell, boss of XL Recordings, has blamed the industry's sexualised marketing of women artists for a dearth of inspiring music -- leading to a pop scene that is "boring, crass and unoriginal."

Quoted in The Guardian , Russell said: "The whole message with [Adele] is that it's just music, it's just really good music. There is nothing else. There are no gimmicks, no selling of sexuality. I think in the American market, particularly, they have come to the conclusion that is what you have to do."

Adele's record-breaking second album '21' has just been knocked off the top of the charts after spending all but two of the past 17 weeks there. Russell compares her no-nonsense image with the "faux porn" seen on today's music channels.

"I felt a bit queasy," he said. "But now you see that Adele is No. 1. What a great thing; how amazing. Not only are young girls going to see that, but [also] the business people who are behind all those videos. It's going to make them rethink what they should be doing."

Russell refuted criticism that Adele was too mainstream, suggesting in the current climate she offers a necessary alternative. "At the level it is at now, it is radical," he said. "It is clearly about the music and the talent and the things it is meant to be about. I think there has been a certain amount of confusion, and it's resulting in garbage being sold and marketing with little real value to it -- Adele is a good thing to be happening."

Sex | Sex Education: Taking The Right Approach

IN TOUCH

Generations of parents have come to know the awkward experience of having their young child ask: Where do babies come from? After all, talking to one's offspring about anything related to sex is still somewhat taboo, especially in many Asian cultures. But youngsters are going to learn about sex eventually, so it's important for their parents to seize the opportunity to give them the right kind of sex education.

Much of a parent's discomfort comes from equating the "sex" in "sex education" with sexual intercourse, which in reality is a very minor part of what kids need to be taught. Sex education - or sexuality education to be more precise - should cover a range of gender-related issues, from why children are born male or female to understanding the so-called third gender.

The teaching can begin during a child's pre-school years with a discussion about how the child will grow and develop depending on his/her gender. As the child gets closer to becoming a teenager, parents can discuss the concept of love, the physical and emotional aspects of puberty and his/her expectations of teenage life. The primary goal of sexuality education is to raise a child who knows how to relate to members of the opposite sex and treat them properly, and to give children the tools they'll need to make future relationships successful.

Some parents believe it's better to put off sex education until their children are well into their teens, but I think that's a mistake. Children begin to develop an understanding of sex, subtly yet gradually, at an earlier age than many parents realise.

In the first three years of life, toddlers learn primarily through touching things around them, including their genitals and anus. During this early period, parents should teach them how to clean these areas properly. Some parents actually scold their children for touching these "dirty" parts; unfortunately, this can create a misconception in the child's mind about their sexual organs, one that can have lasting, harmful effects.

Around about the time children reach the age of eight, they usually show possessive feelings toward the opposite-gender parent. This represents a good opportunity to teach the child about the opposite sex. Fathers and mothers need to set good examples during this period, as children become more aware of the differences between men and women.

So what about youngsters being raised by one parent? It helps to expose children in single-parent households to substitute role models, such as relatives or close friends.

In my own case, after losing my father when I was five, it was my uncle who became the male figure in my life.

Characters from books and stories can also serve as role models. It is common for children to take on traits of their favourite fictional characters. That's another reason why parents must think carefully about the kinds of media to which they allow their kids to be exposed.

The "third gender" issue receives quite a bit of attention in Thailand's mainstream media which, for the most part, portray them as fun, interesting people. This can raise the possibility of overly encouraging or glorifying the third gender to younger children. My thinking stems from the fact that China, with a population of 1.2 billion, has a smaller number of third-gender citizens than Thailand which, I believe, is due to China's stricter media censorship.

There's no proven counter-measure to this problem. By the time a parent begins to notice signs in a child, it's probably too late. What parents can do is to raise the best child possible and be prepared to show acceptance of their offspring.

Schools have an important role to play in providing sex education to students. From my experience, I think there's still room for improvement. Some teachers still labour under the misconception that sex education is about biology and physiology - important topics, of course, but only a small part of what should be covered. Predictably, this type of approach causes students to put up a wall and tune out.

When I'm invited by a school to give a lecture to its students, I never go with the intention of teaching or preaching. Regardless of their age or grade, I ask the students question after question until I'm satisfied with the answers. This method works well because the answers don't come from me; the kids are more likely to listen to the answers because they come from other pupils - their friends and peers.

The most important prerequisite for teaching sex education effectively is to have faith in your students and - even more importantly - to have faith in your own perspective. There should be little to worry about as long as parents and educators have their facts right and keep the children's best interests at heart.

Sex | 'Real Housewives Of New Jersey' Episode 3 Recap: Joe Gorga's Sex Drive Takes ...

Put the kids to bed, this is the adult version of " Real Housewives of New Jersey ."

This episode should be named "Gorga Sex Ed 101," since we learned more about Joe Gorga 's libido than any over-the-top promo could have predicted. Apparently, Joe is used to getting some lovin' every night, and is furious with wife Melissa for holding out on him for four days and refusing to have sex with him after last week's fashion show-down.

When Teresa explains how exhausted she was from all the drama, Joe seems pretty understanding ...

"You should be waking up for me! Take a shot of espresso, throw some water on your face, wake up!" he exclaims in front of their kids.

"You know how much stress I've got? I've got all this poison in my body," he rants. "You know what stress will do to a man? Kill him!"

Good thing his children haven't had Sex Ed yet, because his eldest daughter thinks he's talking about watching T.V., which is sort of cute, yet also a horrible foreshadowing of the years of therapy to come.

Meanwhile, Teresa is having a photo shoot in the city for her second cookbook and has dropped by to see how the food is looking. When Teresa butts in about how to prepare the dishes properly, the food stylist actually making all her "Skinny Italian" meals doesn't look so pleased.

He's even less pleased when he hears her try to explain her recipes using words like "ingrediences" and pronouncing "cumen" "come in."

Interestingly enough, back in Jersey, Kathy goes to make amends with Caroline, after coming to the conclusion that Teresa is incapable of "an adult conversation." She does have a point there ...

Kathy wants to make a good second impression on the Real Housewives matriarch, but Caroline makes it quite condescendingly clear she wants nothing to do with the ladies' drama. While I see where she's coming from, I'm quickly learning to use her scenes for snack breaks.

But don't feel too bad for Kathy " her husband Rich gives her a new Mercedes for her efforts at peacemaking. Do you think Kathy and Rich would be up for a trip to Camp David after the season wraps?

Now that we've gotten the less interesting stuff out of the way, let's get back to Joe Gorga's (albeit, brilliant) scheme for airtime: discussing sex on camera.

As Melissa is busy giving the children a bath, Joe finds himself in the mood for some sexy time with Melissa, whom he labels a "M.I.L.F." But throwing a wrench in his plans is their daughter Antonia, who is afraid of monsters and often sleeps in her parents' bed. Thus, she has earned the loving nickname of "the blocker."

Interestingly enough, Melissa is fine with "the blocker" because she's usually tired. Now we know who's reading her Grimm fairytales at night!

But Antonia's nightmares are no match for Joe, who insists genetics are to blame for his caveman-like tendencies.

"The Gorga family, we're known for our sex drive," he explains matter-of-factly. "My father is a very sexual man. And I guess I take after him. Whataya gonna do?"

Across town, Teresa is busy penning a letter to her brother to make amends, something she sees as her duty.

"I'm his older sister. Obviously I have more brains than him," she explains.

Luckily, while Joe is still reluctant to talk, Melissa is moved by the letter and wants to repair their relationship with Teresa. Looks like Joe's just going to have to deal with it ... that is, if he wants any.

Just for fun, let's end on another one of Dr. Joe Gorga's reproductive lessons:

"You know when you just have a big, white zit and you just finally pop it and it just shoots across the room? That's all the testosterone " it's building up. That's poison; it's poison in your body."

Dr. Ruth, you better watch your back!

Porn | Nintendo Skirting Child Porn Laws With 3DS Game?

By Alex Zaharov-Reutt
Tuesday, 31 May 2011 13:15

Your IT - Entertainment

A Nintendo 3DS fighting game, featuring scantily clad fighters, of whom three are described as being under 18, has been banned in Sweden but is still on sale in Australia as a PG game.

The news has come forth through Fairfax Media's Asher Moses, who in a detailed story entitled " Nintendo child porn game PG in Australia ", explains that the 3DS game "Dead or Alive: Dimensions" has been banned in Sweden because of potential breaches of Swedish child porn laws.

Mr Moses goes on to explain that three of the game's female characters are described as being under 18.

Now, while the young ladies in question are not naked, they do appear to be dressed in the skimpy Japanese Manga/cartoon style, something that is very popular and common in Japan and among fans around the world.

The SMH article quoted a Nintendo Australia spokesperson saying that: "The game contains a wide variety of fictional characters which depict Japanese style cartoon images some of which are female fighters. This is not classified as child porn".

However, if that is the case, then why was it banned in Sweden, and what action might be taken next?

While child porn can never, ever be condoned, and is a blight on the world's children, there's clearly no clear answer to whether scantily-clad teenagers actually constitutes child porn or not, especially seeing as Australia's classification body gave the game a PG or parental guidance rating.

So, as Nintendo and the Dead or Alive: Dimensions game gets some very unexpected and likely unwelcome publicity, and potentially a nice boost in sales, the debate will likely continue for some time, with games makers likely to think twice about how they graphically depict people, especially if they are under 18.

After all, child porn is definitely no game.

Sex | Same-sex Couples Deserve Equal Rights

Some things about a successful marriage are universally true. It offers the couple a lifelong friendship, the committed support of a loved one and, in many cases, the blessing of children.

But, when boiled down to its most basic elements, marriage is a legal relationship. It is a contract. And with it comes legal rights, responsibilities and safeguards that impact every aspect of a couple's daily lives. For most New Yorkers, these rights and protections are a "given" that we take for granted: securing health insurance for our family; filing a joint tax return; sharing child custody or visitation if our marriage fails; and being able to make critical health care or "end of life" decisions when the time comes.

But, in New York, tens of thousands of same-sex couples are denied these basic legal rights and protections.

They are treated as second-class citizens under our law, suffering indignities no one should have to bear.

The debate over gay and lesbian marriage is often clouded by emotions, religion or morality. And while healthy debate should be encouraged in a free society, make no mistake: same-sex marriage is a matter of basic equal rights.

Proposed legislation doesn't require clergy to perform marriage ceremonies or force any religion to sanction same-sex marriages, but simply provides legal equity to same-sex couples who wish to marry.

Denying a marriage license to gay and lesbian partners not only violates one of the basic principles on which our country was founded, it can bring real harm into the lives of a committed couple and their children.

There are many examples of the devastating impact that results from this unfairness. A gay couple may be unable to obtain at work health insurance to cover their whole family, thereby exposing them to catastrophic medical expenses. Even when they can obtain insurance, they are forced to pay additional taxes on the insurance. And when the non-biological, non-adoptive parent takes a child to the emergency room - if her partner (the biological parent) is away - the hospital staff is not obligated to follow the parent's directions or to keep her informed of medical decisions, and can even prevent the parent from seeing the child, no matter how strong the bond is between parent and child.

Moreover, same-sex couples have no inheritance rights under New York law. A sad and poignant reminder of this inequity occurred in 2008 when a New Yorker in a committed relationship died before changing his will to reflect the relationship. The will gave everything to charity, leaving the grieving survivor - who was economically dependent on his life's partner - in dire financial shape. If these New Yorkers could have married, the survivor would have been able to claim one-third of the estate. Instead, he got nothing.

Some opponents of same-sex marriage have argued that achieving equality under the law is possible if the partners sign legal paperwork governing child care, health care, real estate, inheritance or similar matters. Experience says otherwise.

In 2007, a lesbian couple and their children were on vacation when one suffered a catastrophic stroke. They had a living will, a power of attorney and an advanced directive. However, as the woman lay dying in a Florida hospital, her partner was denied the most basic medical information and the children could not see their mother. As a result, the family was not even with her when she died.

Civil unions or domestic partnerships are not acceptable alternatives. Because they do not and cannot achieve equality, the New York State Bar Association has rejected this "separate and unequal" two-class system.

Ironically, courts in New York State already give limited recognition to marriages reached between gay and lesbian couples in other states. So, in essence, same-sex couples can be married in New York, they just can't get married in New York. It is time to put an end to this hypocritical double standard.

A basic principle of our justice system is equality for all - not just for some.

That's why the State Bar joins Gov. Andrew Cuomo in calling on the Legislature to end to these state-sanctioned discriminatory practices. We urge the legislative leaders to bring to a vote a bill legalizing same sex marriage in our state.

Separate and unequal must no longer be tolerated in New York.

Porn | Is 3D Porn Is Just A Gimmick?

No, I've never seen a porn. in 3D, and I'm not sure that I want to, but I had a feeling with 3D making its big comeback 3D porn was inevitable.

First there was the news weeks after the release of Avatar that Tinto Brass, director of the notorious Caligula, was going to make a 3D porn.

And of course, with porn parodies of mainstream movies, like Pulp Friction, Cliffbanger, and San Fernando Jones and the Temple of Poon, an Avatar porn parody was inevitable.

Brass claimed his porn. would be the first in 3D, which is certainly not true. In fact, in the old days of 3D, one of the most successful films in the format was the X-rated movie The Stewardesses.

Considering Caligula is still one of the most sleaziest movies ever made, I'd be afraid to think of what Brass could come up with in 3D.

It's also frightening to think that apparently John Holmes made porn in 3D, and that's certainly not something I'd want to see coming out of the screen.

I didn't have to go much further than this site to see recent news on 3D porn, all 3D porn networks, and more, and having written about technology before, it's surprising that the adult industry is chasing after the mainstream, because porn actually pushed through a lot of technology before the mainstream did.

The VCR, the internet, DVD, the adult industry broke them through before regular Hollywood did, and people will tell you the whole appeal of spending a ton of money on VCR back in the day was so you could watch X rated movies in your home.

The adult industry's been hit hard by the recession when many felt it was recession proof, and the fact that porno is suffering shows how screwed up our economy really is.

3D will probably be little more than a gimmick with porn, just like it won't make a bad mainstream movie any better.

Again, haven't seen any 3D porno yet, but if it is truly amazing and makes me er, randier than the usual fare, I'll let you know.

Sex | Sex Offender Lived At Childcare Home

A REGISTERED sex offender was found to be living at the home of a family day carer in Melbourne's southern suburbs, raising serious concerns about the risks of home-based childcare.

The state government has asked Child Safety Commissioner Bernie Geary for a "full investigation", following revelations that the partner of a family day carer employed by Kids Heaven was a sex offender.

"The Baillieu government has significant concerns about how this situation occurred and how it was subsequently addressed," Minister for Children Wendy Lovell said.

The alarm was raised in February after a damning investigation by Ombudsman George Brouwer revealed more than 700 children had had contact with registered sex offenders in Victoria.

The Age was told the Education Department "went insane" when alerted by the Department of Human Services. It immediately launched an investigation of Kids Heaven, a private family day care provider registered with the Children's Services branch of the Education Department.

A spokeswoman said the department stopped the carer providing family day care as soon as it became aware of the matter.

"That investigation is now complete and the family day carer is no longer operating," the spokeswoman said. "There is no evidence to suggest that children have been harmed whilst in the care of this family day carer."

The Age believes the carer and her partner have left Australia. The scandal comes amid grave concerns about the risks of family day care, where up to seven children are looked after in the carer's home.

Critics say the federal government's decision to open up family day care - previously run solely by local councils - to private providers in 2001 has led to a loss of oversight and some unscrupulous operators.

Although the Education Department has the power to inspect family day carers' homes, only a handful of the hundreds of carers in Victoria are visited each year to ensure they are complying with the law.

Municipal Association of Victoria president Bill McArthur said a number of councils had raised concerns about the proliferation of private family day care providers.

"Those in-home services offered to vulnerable groups such as children are inherently more risky and require more stringent safeguards, monitoring and support," Cr McArthur said. He said local councils, which still hold two-thirds of the family day care licences in Victoria, better monitored their carers, including holding regular spot checks.

It is believed that the sex offender evaded detection because he did not have a current Working with Children check. By law, all family day carers and adults ‘‘normally residing'' on the premises must have current Working with Children and criminal history checks.

The Age believes the Education Department is seeking legal advice on whether the sex offender was ‘‘normally residing'' in the home. The department is determining what action to take against Kids Heaven, which is based at Braybrook.

Kids Heaven contact person Tufah Garad did not return calls from The Age.

In a separate incident, Kids Heaven had its operating licence reduced from five years to one year in December last year, after failing to provide the Education Department with information about carers and failing to ensure child enrolment records were kept.

The department also imposed a limit on the number of carers Kids Heaven was permitted to employ.
Federal Childcare Minister Kate Ellis said the issue was extremely concerning.

‘‘Under new national laws, to take effect from 2012, there will be state-based authorities that have the power to issue emergency action notices and to prosecute childcare providers where there is a concern regarding the safety of children,'' she said.

Lesbians | Becoming Chaz: A Bono Of Another Name - And Still Advocating

Unless you have been living under a rock lately, you've seen publicity about Chaz Bono's gender transition - lots of it.

All the attention was organized to promote the premiere of "Becoming Chaz," a documentary by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato of World of Wonder productions, which debuted this month on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), as well as Chaz's new book, "Transition - The story of how I became a man," released by Dutton Books (Penguin) at the same time.

The dozen or so appearances created a frenzy in the media, Chaz's image was everywhere you looked, answering very personal questions about what is usually a very private journey. A journey that, according to the documentary, his mother was not so thrilled was being shared quite so publicly.

Ironically, it was his mother who first thrust Bono - then known as Chastity - into the very same spotlight some 40 years ago. As a bouncing, beautiful, tow-headed two-year-old, Chastity Bono was the captive, adoring prop on her parent's wildly popular 1970's variety show, The Sonny and Cher Show. Bono had no choice in the matter then and he really doesn't remember that period of his life, but it is an image burned into the memory of most everyone else over a certain age.

The journey

Little Chastity went on to survive her parent's divorce, jetset around the world with her super-star mom, become a big-sister a few times, and enroll in drama at Performing Arts high school in New York, but she stayed pretty much under the radar all those years. Whenever people thought of Chastity, they still thought of that adorable little girl on TV.

It wasn't until 1990 that the media first tried to "out" then 19-year-old Chastity as a lesbian. She wasn't ready and didn't publicly come out until 1995 -- and did so on her own terms. Shortly thereafter, she was tapped by the Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) as their entertainment media director - to oversee and police the very industry she'd grown up in.

That time, Chastity chose to accept the spotlight being offered her and take all the energy and attention generated by her coming out and channel it for a greater good. The results were life changing for both GLAAD and the community. She quickly became the trusted authority in Hollywood when it came to addressing gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people appropriately on film. Arguably, her ability to mediate the two worlds so exquisitely, has not been matched since.

During those years, Chastity was everywhere, fighting for the accurate and fair representation and inclusion of the LGBT community. Fred Phelps once called her "a satanic evangelist for GLAAD." She became a very visible and very outspoken lesbian -- but there was just one problem -- something wasn't right. Shortly after her father's tragic death, she left GLAAD and slipped back under the radar.

Now, 15 years later, Chastity Sun Bono has reemerged as Chaz Salvatore Bono, and his decision to step back into the spotlight again, this time, was his decision and his alone.

Coming out publicly is one thing, but sharing very personal details of a gender transition is very different.

Chaz knew there was no way he could ever pull off a transition in private -- so he decided to use this as an opportunity to educate people how to become their true, most authentic selves. He let go of what others might feel about his process and focused on his own truth, and, knowing the media's scrutiny was inevitable, he chose to embrace them. It was probably the toughest, but easiest decision he has ever made.

And it was an incredibly brave decision.

After all, gender transition certainly was not a common or comfortable topic of conversation on daytime, primetime or even late night TV. But Chaz brought the topic and his own, very personal journey into the livingrooms of John Q. Public, all across the country; catching them at all hours of the day, with appearances ranging from Good Morning America to David Letterman, and all points in between.

Who's table is it, anyway?

As the huge media storm began to die down, Chaz recently set aside some time to talk to the San Diego Gay Lesbian News .

The documentary -- which became the first in Oprah's new "book club-like" documentary series -- takes us through a recent period in Chaz's life when after taking hormones for almost a year, he decides to move forward with "top" surgery - the removal of his breasts - and legally change his name and gender identity.

Although interviewed by dozens of professional talking heads this past month, addressing how Chaz may or not still fit into his own community was never touched upon. Where he fits is something that is not lost upon him. Because without question, the LGBT "community" needs just as much of an education about transgender issues as the general public does, so when asked, Chaz got right to the point.

"We are the B and T [of LGBT] in our household," Chaz began, referring to himself and his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Elia. "People in our own community don't understand the difference between sexual orientation and gender identity. I am hoping that as time goes on, the B's and T's get a bigger place at the table. As it is, we're always kept at the kiddie table.

"There is also an assumption that bisexuality is a stopping point on the way to finding your gay identity, but there are those who are attracted to a person , not a gender," he continued. "I've never experienced [bisexuality] myself, so I look at it as a higher state of being."

Bisexuals and transgender people have often experienced discrimination within the ranks of their own community, inherently because their sexual and/or gender identities are not understood by gays and lesbians. Chaz believes it is time for that to change.

"How can we expect others to accept our own sexual orientation when we don't accept the sexual orientation of others?" he asked.

Mind over matter

Chaz knew he was different very early in age, as most in the LGBT community do. When it came time to accept a label for those differences, being a lesbian seemed to fit at the time, but he will tell you he was never a card-carrying lesbian. It just didn't feel right; so he did the best he could.

Elia had dated both men and women over the years, but as Chaz explained, "never in the same person." That did initially pose challenges -- all of which have pretty much resolved themselves since the filming of the documentary, but viewers get to experience some of those challenges in the film.

One of the stand-out interviews in recent weeks was with David Letterman. Letterman's on-screen banter with Cher earlier this year about her feelings about Chaz's transition became part of the documentary. Chaz's own appearance on the show a few days after the film's premiere, closed the loop on many levels. And although Letterman appeared to toy with the subject -- if just a little -- he did ask a great many indepth questions and Chaz was quite happy with the interview.

"You're not going to get an Oprah kind of interview from Letterman," Chaz said. "His lack of understanding gave me a good platform to educate people."

Gays, lesbians and bisexuals generally identify with the gender they were assigned to at birth, but their sexual orientation is towards those of the same sex. It was different for Chaz.

"It really was an issue of my brain," said Chaz.

Transgender people don't identify with the gender they were assigned at birth; yet their sexual orientation can be straight or gay and it doesn't change as a result of their gender reassignment. For many, this can be very confusing.

One of the single, most important distinctions Chaz has made during the media rounds is that, for the most part, the gender that people have in their brain matches the gender they have in their physical body. Chaz's genders didn't match. In the documentary, he likened it to a cleft-palette. He has understood this gender mismatch his entire life, spending most of it trying to adapt. It wasn't until the last decade that he understood that he could do anything about it.

As a public spokesperson for GLAAD, Chaz, then Chastity, appeared for the most part, feminine. Although Chaz agreed with this assertion, he was quick to point out that everyone who makes a television appearance goes through "hair and make-up" (so he had little choice in the matter) and emphasized that he was always wearing male style clothing.

"I wanted to fit in, to feel more normal," he said. "I've looked at photos of me as I began becoming more masculine and I tried to be as comfortable as I could be in that female body."

If you google Chaz on the internet and look at photos from over the years, you will see him gradually morphing (in style and appearance) into the man he is today, long before his transition actually began.

As he has stated publicly, Chaz just wanted to be treated on the outside the same way he felt on the inside.

Many butch lesbians find themselves being inadvertently called or addressed by male pronouns, but this is something that Chaz never experienced. It wasn't because everyone knew who he was, they didn't; he asserts it was because he had large breasts. Once the breasts were removed, his public life changed considerably.

"Strangers are so much more comfortable around me, now," he said. "As a very butch woman, people weren't particularly friendly to me; now people who have no idea who I am are much nicer."

Again, we discriminate against what we don't understand. People on the street who had no idea who he was, just didn't know how to treat a very masculine-looking woman. Now he is treated like any other guy.

"It's nice for me, but it really makes me sad for the people that don't fit in," he said.

Becoming Chaz

Chaz began hormone therapy in March of 2009. In the documentary, we see him celebrating his one year "manniversary" with his close friends and family. The whole process basically throws you into puberty again, something that was discussed a great deal during recent interviews.

Side-effects include acne, enhanced sex drive, and sweating; something he experienced even moreso when he was nervous. When Chaz visited San Diego in Feb of 2010 to speak at the CESCal Conference for counselors and educators of LGBT in grades K-12, he was sweating profusely during his speech. It appeared very uncomfortable.

"Thankfully puberty slowed down at the two year mark," he explained. "I was really happy about that and it made the [recent] media appearances so much easier." His sex-drive has also leveled out, something that was in high gear during the making of the film.

What much of the media focused on was whether or not Chaz would have "bottom" surgery. In the film, he is shown attending a seminar and says, quite frankly, that he has yet to decide on the surgery because "it's just not there yet." This is a sentiment he repeated in recent interviews until the letters taking issue with his remarks began to roll in. Realizing he unintentionally pushed some people's buttons, he added disclaimers going forward.

"I had to decide for myself about how to handle bottom surgery," he said. "I really don't think about my gentials very much at all. I can't represent everyone, I'm just trying to put my story out there."

Part of that story is that he's just not ready for bottom surgery, plain and simple, and may never be. That is not the case for everyone, nor is he saying it should be.

"It's a really big step. I take it very seriously and need to know it is the right step for me and that my expectations are okay," he said.

"The truth is, most trans men don't have the surgery. It is a big expense." An expense even Chaz is not willing to take on when he's not sure it is something he, or his girlfriend, wants to have done.

Some may have cried foul, but most have their own comfort level when it comes to surgery. The important thing is, at which point do they feel they are living authentically? Chaz is there, for now. He recognizes his journey may differ from others, but when it comes down to it, the biggest difference between Chaz and other trans people is how publicly he was forced to go through his transition.

We all have the same motivation

In an effort to get input from another trans man familiar with Chaz's story, San Diego Gay Lesbian News also spoke to Ian Harvie, a popular comedian-actor who lives in Los Angeles.

"Why should he even have to add a disclaimer?" asked Harvie. "By being a public figure, he is under a lot of pressure to say things correctly, but this is his process, no one else's. Do people really not get that? Saying bottom surgery is not optimal is okay , because it is true and most in the trans community feel the same way. The surgery is a lot better for trans women.

"Besides, no one on this planet is 100% comfortable about their body," Harvie continued. "I live in Los Angeles which is the plastic surgery capitol of the world. That surgery is all about gender, too; men get pectoral implants to look more male, women get breast implants to look more female. We all have the same motivation, we just call it different things.

"I tried to be the best butch I could be, but I needed to do more," he said. "The need to feel better in my body was occupying my brain. I woke up every day wondering how I would conceal my triple D chest. It took up an enormous amount of head space and [surgery] freed that up."

Harvie had gender mismatch feelings similar to Chaz, both as a child and throughout life, and also went forward with "top" surgery, but despite their similarities, their journey (or "outcome" as Harvie calls it) has been different. Harvie uses male language to describe his body parts but he does not fully identify as male. He also shared that he's more comfortable now with his femininity than before, when he ID'd as butch, something the documentary makes very clear is different for Chaz.

Harvie congratulates Chaz on sharing his positive, powerful story, but he knows even this isn't enough to make transgender miunderstanding and discrimination a thing of the past.

"It's gonna take Chaz, a little humor and more people coming out before it's not a big deal anymore."

Harvie uses comic relief to address his queer / transgender identity on stage.

Becoming Chaz in his own words

Although media focus on the documentary has diminished, Chaz hasn't slowed down yet; he still has a few more book signings, some Pride celebrations to attend, and a few transgender conferences lined up before he and Jennifer get the chance to relax a little.

In the documentary, you learn that Chaz was working on his third book. That book, "Transition ..." was released concurrent to the documentary and although it appears to cover the same ground as the film, they are very different, according to Chaz.

Many hours of video were taken of Chaz's daily life for the months that Becoming Chaz was being made, but the end result is seen through a filmmaker's lens. The final editing of all those hours of video into one 90 minute film, was the decision of Barbato and Bailey, not Chaz.

"Transition," however, covers his whole life and is from his own personal perspective. He was responsible for the final editing decisions and gives much more detail than 90 minutes can offer.

"[The book] is not just about transitioning; it is about other struggles in my life, including death (of a girlfriend, his father). I am really proud of it. It is my blood, sweat and tears and I'm happy the way it turned out.

"It really is about learning how to be yourself - which is a universal theme. Our goal [as humans] is to find our authentic selves and be comfortable in the world."

If you've been paying attention, it appears Chaz has finally reached that goal.
