Hot Sex | Should Sex Be Mandatory In Marriage?

If you're married and unhappy with your sex life, should you sue your spouse?

That's exactly what a woman in France did recently. In a rare decision, a judge ordered her ex-husband pay $14,000 in damages for failing to have enough sex during their 21-year marriage. This raises the question, "Is sex a mandatory part of marriage?"

According to one American study from the General Social Survey , married men and women, on average, have sex with their spouse 58 times a year -- a little more than once a week. But 15 percent of married couples haven't had sex with their spouse in the last six months-to-one-year, according to a study conducted by Georgia State University .

So, should married couples be required to have sex, and if so, how often?

Cosmopolitan Executive Editor Nicole Beland and Matt Titus, author of "Why Hasn't He Called? How Guys Really Think," chimed in on the hot topic.

Watch the video above, and let us know, using the comments area of this story, whether you feel sex during a marriage should be mandatory.

Sex | Italian Student Killed In 'sex Game Gone Wrong'

Italian prosecutors have charged a 42-year-old man with killing a female student who suffocated during a sex-game gone wrong, media reported Sunday.

Soter Mule tied Paola Caputo, 24, to another woman while performing a Japanese sado-masochist technique known as "shibari."

The engineer was originally held for murder but authorities in Rome believe Caputo and her friend consented to the game.

Investigators have so far established that the three spent the night drinking and using drugs at a club before Caputo, said to be Soter's long-term girlfriend, suggested going to the car park of the building in a Rome suburb where she worked as a caretaker.

The two women remained clothed while they were tied tightly together with the same rope and suspended two metres off the ground. The balancing act meant that when the unnamed woman fainted, Caputo was suffocated.

Mule tried to save her by cutting the cord before calling for help. He reportedly told investigators: "No one forced anyone. Paola and her friend consented. It's a horrible accident."

Caputo's 23-year-old friend was taken to hospital in a serious, but not life-threatening condition.

Nicknamed Kinbaku, Mule was known online for practicing bondage and was a member of the BDSM association, standing for bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism.

"He was considered one of the experts," a person familiar with the scene told the Ansa news agency.

"Practising this kind of extreme sex, everything has to be controlled, but he knew that completely. We don't understand what happened."

Sex | Kim Kardashian Not Mystery Buyer Of Kim Kardashian Sex Tape

Someone has been trying to buy the rights to professional celebrity Kim Kardashian's sex tape from Vivid Entertainment. There's been speculation that the party interested in paying the porn company the tape's $30 million asking price is actually Kim and giant husband Kris themselves, but those rumors were debunked yesterday when the buyer met with Vivid representatives. If the bid's successful, the buyer promises to reveal why s/he is doing it.

Creative Emmys were handed out last night, and Justin Timberlake won a couple more statuettes for his always-brilliant turns on SNL. Despite the fact that JT is hilarious on the show and the world is made just a little brighter because "Dick in a Box" exists, we need to stop rewarding Justin Timberlake for doing things that are not making another album. There are dozens of good SNL guest stars and only one person who can make a Justin Timberlake album. What are we supposed to listen to, Justin? Drake? Robin Thicke? No thank you. [ Yahoo ]

The Abercrombie vs. The Situation... er... situation... intensifies as the star of your sexual nightmares is suing the clothier, claiming that they're benefiting from slogans Sitch came up with. This on the heels of a much-publicized effort by the chain to convince the reality TV star to stop wearing its clothing in public by offering a payout. It sounds like The Situation has a solid case- the chain has sold shirts that read both "GTL Fitch" and "The Fituation," both of which sound pretty Jersey Shore-derived. Whatever the outcome, let's hope it gets resolved amicably and quickly. I hate it when Mommy and Daddy fight. [ Digital Spy ]

Anal | Scientists Discover Velcro Makes Lab-Grown Muscle Stronger [Science]

We can grow lots out of labs these days. When you can grown full brains and anal sphincters in petri dishes, muscle must seem like cake. Except that it doesn't hold up the way muscle should. The solution? Velcro.\n

Oh, Velcro. I never meant to take you for granted. As it turns out, researchers at Eindhoven University found that strapping down the growing muscle onto pads of velcro helps give it the necessary structure and alignment to exert force. Otherwise the cells wind up growing up into a wad of disorganized tissue.\n

The muscles even grow their own network of blood vessels. All these factors combine to make this a big step toward developing treatments for patients who've lost muscle in accidents or surgery. Researchers hope to see new therapies developed in ten years time. In the meantime, I'm gonna find my old L.A. Lights sneakers and think about the meaning of progress. Sex | Sex Offender Update

Two high-risk sex offenders, one who choked a young woman unconscious, have registered as living homeless in Clark County, and a third has found a home in downtown Vancouver.

Kevin Scott Danielson, John Francis Ammons and Patrick Robin King are classified as Level 3 sex offenders, the group considered most likely to commit new sex crimes, according to bulletins from the Sex Offender Registration Unit of the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

Danielson, 39, has been convicted of first-degree sex abuse, for victimizing a 4-year-old girl and two boys, ages 6 and 7.

He's also been convicted of first-degree assault and second-degree burglary, for unlawfully entering the home of a 19-year-old woman while she slept. He held a knife to her throat while trying to remove her shirt and choked her unconscious. When she awoke, her keys and vehicle were missing, the bulletin said.

Danielson is white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes " and is homeless, a bulletin said.

Ammons, 35, recently was released from the Clark County Jail and also has registered as being homeless.

Ammons has been convicted of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and third-degree rape of a child, officials said. His victims were a 6-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl.

In 1998, 1999 and 2007, he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender.

Ammons is white, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 190 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

King, 58, has moved to the 100 block of East Sixth Street, his bulletin said.

King has been convicted of indecent liberties with an 8-year-old girl whom he was baby-sitting, and threatening to kill her if she told others about the abuse; and first-degree child molestation of a 5-year-old girl while she slept.

He is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 210 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes.

King drives a gray 1983 Pontiac Firebird with Washington license AAG7380 and a white 1977 Tioga 23-foot motor home with Washington license 111VJP.

The three men are not being sought by police.

Danielson is monitored by officers with the sheriff's unit and Vancouver Police Department's Sex Offender Tracking Unit.

Ammons and King are monitored by both of those units and the state Department of Corrections.

The Columbian's policy is to publish a story and photo when Level 3 sex offenders move to, change addresses in or become homeless in Clark County.

Porn | .xxx Domains Have Arrived, Somehow Making Porn Even Easier To Find

ICM Registry states on its main page that ".XXX isn't just coming, it's here!" While you can't help but read that phrase, along with anything else on ICM's site, as a double entendre, the statement is still true. In this 50 day period that started September 7, "Sunrise A" gives the opportunity for those in the porn business to secure a certain .xxx domain while "Sunrise B" covers those who wish to protect their brands from being associated with adult entertainment by removing their trademarks from eligibility.

Luckily for Regis (and 99.99% of the world), most famous celebrities have had their names made off-limits when it comes to the new domain . Companies like Disney, on the other hand, are going to have to cover as many bases as possible. In order to prevent something from being registered as a .xxx, the applicant must be a trademark holder, meaning that they have a legal right to be the only party identified with that word or phrase on the Internet.

Disney, for example, holds a lot of trademarks, but there are also a lot of strange people out there. If domains did crop up later that obviously infringe a trademark owned by a company like Disney, they can apply to have it removed, for a fee. Companies with many well-known trademarks will not only be looking at a lot of fees to exempt their marks initially in this sunrise period, but could also be looking at more to kill those sites they never thought someone would be so depraved to register. Is this really fair, for the sake of a porn domain? It may help to set adult sites apart from most of the other destinations on the Internet, but it seems that it doesn't really matter what the domain for a porn site is, if people want to, they will find it.

When the sunrise period ends on October 28, what ICM refers to as a "quiet period" will follow, where presumably, everyone will have to suffer a little while longer with old-fashioned .com porn sites. Then, on November 6, there will be a "land rush" where those not qualifying for Sunrise A can secure a domain. But the most interesting date will be December 6 when the domain opens up to general registration. Then we'll see just how weird things can get.

Teen Sex | Teen Mom: Jenelle Evans Found Guilty

« Kim Kardashian Not The Mystery Buyer Of Her Sex Tape Home

September 11, 2011 05:48 AM by Megan Thompson

Yes it's another update on the troubled mother from MTV's Teen Mom, Jenelle Evans. Jenelle Evans just seems to find trouble, doesn't she? Jenelle had her day in court on Friday, to face the fighting charges from this past March. Keep reading to find out if you agree with the sentence Jenelle received!

Jenelle is no stranger to the police station these days, but this time theteen mom wasin court to face thefighting charges she received last spring. You remember the fight, the one that went viral on the internet. Jenelle was fighting another girl over her loser boyfriend at the time, Kieffer Delp.

The judge did find Jenelle Evans guilty of a misdemeanor, fighting in public, and sentenced her to 12 months of probation and a $100 fine. Community service and anger management classes were also part of Jenelle's sentence. Jenelle's lawyer was happy with this outcome telling US Weekly, "I told Jenelle I have never been happy about losing a trial, but you are the first." Jenelle felt vindicated because the media portrayed her as the attacker, but the girl she was fighting received the same sentence. As for Jenelle she is also happy about the outcome, because she felt the truth came out.

Now if Jenelle can only stay out of trouble and regain custody of her child. Jenelle's mother currently has custody of her two year-old -son, Jace. It's Jenelle's goal to stay on track, stay off drugs, and then fight to get Jace back.

Sex | Arizona Church Gods, Goddesses Arrested For Sexual Offerings

Tracy Ellise, the founder of the church is also involved in the practice, police said.

Elise was allegedly involved in a suspected brothel in Seattle, Washington which was shut down in 2009.

Phoenix Police spokesperson, Steve Martos said, "They were committing crimes under the guise of religious freedom. It's a sad situation when people are trying to hide behind religion and church to commit a crime."

Alex Averill, another member of the church who calls himself a "spiritual warrior" said, "I say people call me what you will, but at my church, I'm labeled a practitioner. At my church, I'm labeled a shaman.

No, I do not charge for sex. I work off donations. I work off of what people can leave me as offerings."

Four of 20 people arrested are men and two of the four are alleged prostitutes, police said.

Making Love | Protecting Our Countryside Is Not Sentimental, But Vital | The Big Issue

While making some pragmatic concessions to the arguments for the preservation of our countryside, Rowan Moore (" We love the myths of rural England, but let's not romanticise it too much ", Comment) interprets a love of the countryside as a sentimental indulgence reflecting a mindset positioned somewhere between Thomas Hardy and The Archers . Most thinking people would recognise that it represents instead a relationship integral to our culture and a source of inspiration for some of our most enduring art, music and literature. Lazily applying the abusive term "nimby" to those objecting to insensitive local development ignores the fact that people are inevitably and rightly motivated to defend what they know and love. To suggest that such "nimbys" would be satisfied with a compensatory cheque is simply stupid.

More stupid still is the suggestion that we do not need agriculture and could comfortably subsist on imports. Heaven preserve us if the fate of the countryside is to be decided by such crass and soulless materialism.

Helen Boyles

Rowan Moore is right to suggest that the planning policies now under review have ensured that the countryside is better preserved in England than in Ireland. Legislators take note: a long-standing presumption in favour of one-off housing in Ireland has suburbanised much of our supposedly rural landscape. It's hard to find a country road (other than in upland areas) that's not interrupted by several houses to the mile, most of them with individual septic tanks. The damage, once done, can't be reversed. Aerial images available at say it all.

Cormac Bourke

Thank you for prominently raising the issue of housing need in England, ( Editorial ). You do mention brownfield development as well as the potential threat to our countryside. But the discussion so far seems to concentrate on the sentimental, if worthy, wish to keep the countryside looking beautiful. There are equally important reasons for first looking elsewhere, and the idea of brownfield development is key. More housing in the countryside generally means more car dependency, longer distances and smaller loads for the delivery to shops of supplies of every kind, and more electricity cables, gas pipes, sewerage, and piped water provision. Concentrating a population in a city is nearly always likely to provide a more sustainable way of living. Setting up registers of brownfield sites seems not to have been followed up by sufficient actual and determined development of this kind. The same kind of careful human tending that made the English countryside lovely can also make our cities good places to live in:

Richard Wilson

Rowan Moore states that "Agriculture remains an important industry, but no more then that... we could still feed ourselves with imports". He also believes that "there is nothing intrinsically wrong with a house or a town". On the first point, although one might first ask where the funds to pay for the imports would come from, he ignores the fact that global warming and expanding populations are already imposing stresses on the world's food supply. Secondly, no matter how small the area involved, any concreting/building over a "greenfield" site effectively destroys its future food-producing capability. If it is an area of sustainably managed farmland (rather than one of 'industrial' farming) it destroys valuable wildlife habitat which also produces food.

Other articles in the same edition pointed out the various aspects of the problem, and offered some solutions. The idea that we should accept "that nimbys are human" only encourages pandering to, at worst, greed ("a fairly large cheque") or, at best, misguided community spirit ("a new village hall or some other communal goody").

Anal | From Rogues To Riches: An Imperfect Storm

YES, there will be plenty of NRL fans who feel about as warm and fuzzy at the thought of Melbourne winning the premiership as they would about an anal wart. Many who would rather see Adam Sandler win a best actor Oscar or Muammar Gaddafi win a Nobel Peace prize than watch the Storm lift - and this time keep - the trophy.

As underdog tales go, the Storm's story is unorthodox. Not your typical ''lowly club somehow finds magic ingredient, overcomes adversity and battles its way to the top'' tear-jerker. For those who find it hard to forgive and forget, more like the Germans getting up off their knees in 1946 and reinvading France - only, this time, they get to keep the wine and cheese.

It takes a leap of faith to embrace what some have described as, potentially, the greatest story in Australian sport - the Storm being transformed from (if you will forgive the alliteration) pointless pariahs to proud premiers in a single season. You first have to reconcile the fact that these underdogs are no innocent victims of ill fate or cruel persecution. Remember that Melbourne dug the grave from which they have risen - a concept those at the Storm who continue to blame a few bad apples have not fully embraced.

Of course, when clubs succeed, we hear grandiose speeches about how everyone is vital, interdependent and equally accountable - even if the office boy did not plant the ball between the posts or the boot studder did not muster the courage to knock Paul Gallen on his backside.

Surely it follows that, when a club cheats, it also cheats together. Even if, as the NRL later found, the players, the coaching staff and practically no one else who did not have the keys to the club's secret filing cabinets were directly responsible. Storm cheated, Storm got caught, Storm were punished.

For others, it is the Storm's aggressive, sometimes stifling tactics that put them at the Ivan Milat end on a scale of ''loveability''. Television presenter James Mathieson sent up each of the leading contenders during his introduction at the Dally M Medals on Tuesday night. As Mathieson breezed past Billy Slater, his message was about as subtle as an elbow in the Adam's apple. ''Enjoy the chicken wings.''

Yet, if that light-hearted jibe might once have raised the Storm's hackles, the night itself only elevated the club in the public's esteem. Not just because Slater won the Dally M after another superb season; the Storm's big three - Slater, Cooper Cronk and Cameron Smith were all voted best in their positions; Smith, who was also best captain and best representative player, spent more time on the stage than the organisers did building it; and Craig Bellamy was - surely by a unanimous acclaim - coach of the year.

It was the dignity the club brought to the ceremony - and to its season as a whole - that was uplifting. Sixteen months later, the Storm did not use their renewed excellence as a source of ill-advised retribution. Bellamy is still clearly unhappy about the ordeal his team endured last season. Yet, in his acceptance speech, he managed to say he felt the club had still ''won'' the two confiscated titles without sounding bitter, defiant or ungrateful. A decent effort with David Gallop sitting not more than 10 metres away.

No doubt, the NRL chief executive will find all is far from forgiven when he presents the JJ Giltinan Shield to the Storm at AAMI Park tomorrow. But the Storm's campaign does not feel like it is based on spite or anger. It feels more like a determined, almost bloody-minded demonstration that the fundamentals upon which those past two premierships were ''won'' - discipline, hard work and camaraderie - were as important as the salary cap advantage.

At finals time, there are always more fairytales than at a Grimm family reunion. The Newcastle team the Storm will attempt to eliminate tomorrow also has a few. Coach Rick Stone, who will stand aside for Wayne Bennett despite taking his team to the play-offs, has performed with unusual grace and dignity. The eccentric veteran Adam ''mad dog'' MacDougall plays his last final. There is the emergence of another potential legend, Akuila Uate, perhaps the only genuinely shy man ever to wear a Mohawk.

Yet, as unlikely as it might have seemed 16 months ago when the Storm suffered their self-inflicted wounds, the real feelgood story is Melbourne. That might not be enough for many to overcome old grudges and cheer them on. But, surely, even those who shouted abuse and waved $50 notes in the players' faces would have some grudging respect if they went all the way.

Porn | Westford Businessman Given Additional Child Porn Sentence

Friday morning, Middlesex Superior Court judge Elizabeth Fahey sentenced 34-year-old Westford business owner Brad Warnerto 10 to 12 years in state prison on an aggravated child rape count, which will run alongside his current federal sentence . Warner plead guilty in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn to charges of aggravated rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child (5 counts).

According to a press release from the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, "he was sentenced to 7 years probation from and after the prison term on the remaining indecent assault and battery counts with the conditions that he have no contact with the victim or her family, comply with all federal probation conditions and the Sex Offender Registration law, wear a GPS bracelet, have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18, be subject to random drug and alcohol screenings, and that he undergo drug/alcohol, mental health and sex offender treatment."

On October 22, 2010 a federal warrant was issued for Warner's home in Acton where he was then arrested for child pornography charges.

During Warner's investigation, email communications were discovered between Warner and John J. Belloli of Dearborn Heights, Mich., in which Belloli emailed a video file of a prepubescent female and an adult male engaging in sexual acts and also sent videos of prepubescent females changing.

According to the press release, "it was determined that Warner had on one occasion raped and on several occasions indecently assaulted the victim."

"This defendant has now admitted to raping and sexually assaulting a young victim on numerous occasions," Middlesex District Attorney Leone said. "Children are our most vulnerable victims and deserve our greatest protection. By pleading guilty, the defendant is admitting his responsibility for his illegal crimes and will be held accountable."

Porn | You Could Try Fighting Porn With Porn

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts: I'm in a relationship with a man in his 20s and I'm in my 30s. We've both come out of unhealthy relationships and feel we've found something great -- so happy in all aspects, and the sex is great. We both have high sex drives and have intercourse faithfully once every day. The only issue I'm having a hard time dealing with is his masturbation. The logical side of me knows every guy does it, it's normal, natural, safe, yada yada yada.... But, knowing he does it and uses porn really bothers me. (Ironically, the thought of it also really turns me on.) He says he thinks there's nothing wrong with it, but still denies it. I'm also a hypocrite. I do it alone often, BUT to thoughts of him and our activities. Is it the act itself or the use of porn (which I like too, but rarely seek as I don't have time) or the fact he is lying to me? How do I give him what he is entitled to -- privacy, and the right to do with his body what he wants, just as I have, and just be OK with this once and for all? -- Perturbed Lover, Winnipeg

Dear Perturbed: It's probably the use of porn (other sexy women on screen when you're not invited) that rankles you most. So, to even things out, you could experiment. Make the time to find yourself some porn for women, with an actual storyline to it. No doubt he'll be curious to see what you get, so welcome him to watch with you if he wants to, and maybe he'll invite you to watch one of his videos with you.... Or, you could start having sex twice a day -- before work and before bedtime is quite normal for highly-sexed couples. No time for that? You could also say to yourself as a mantra: "I exercise my right to privacy and he deserves his, too" until you get the belief locked in your head. At the very least, drop your anger level over this and stop searching for evidence, unless you think he's addicted. (It seems more like a sideline).

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts; My girlfriend used to be a serious gymnast and it's amazing what she can do. I am an armchair football player with a lot of "muscle resting." I don't mind when she introduces crazy positions into our sex life that don't involve my taking a chance on breaking something. But she now seems to delight in suggesting things I can't do without taking that chance. What is she trying to prove? That I need to lose 50 pounds and get in shape? She is 5-3 and 120 pounds. Good for her. I'm 6-3 and 225 pounds. She met me at this size and loved me as "her big guy." So why does she torment me now? -- Fed Up Big Guy, Transcona

Dear Big Guy: It could be she's dropping big hints. Translated, her actions could mean, "If you want to keep up with me, you'd better get on the fitness trail. I am fed up with your being a slug." How about you ask her outright if that's what all this gymnastic taunting means? So much for hinting. It's time for a real communication with words about this. Does she want you to lose weight? Have the initial good feelings worn down because you're in the armchair way too much, and she's an athlete? Do you want to become more athletic or are you happy being sedentary? If you are, perhaps this is no longer the right woman for you. As we know, sex is rarely about sex. It's a communication on many levels. Ask her to talk to you about what she's thinking and feeling and be prepared for the truth, whatever it is. It wouldn't be a bad thing for you to get fit; it can add at least 10 years to your life.

Lesbians | Orthodox Rabbi Matches Lesbians And Gays So They Can Have Some Babies

Matchmaker, Matchmaker,Make me a match,Find me a find, catch me a catchMatchmaker, MatchmakerLook through your book,And make me a perfect match

While most Orthodox rabbis encourage gays and lesbians to suppress their same-sex attractions, abstain from gay sex or undergo therapy to try to go straight, a gay, Orthodox Israeli Rabbi has shocked Jewish religious communities after he creating an on line dating service that matches up gay, Orthodox Jewish men with gay, Orthodox Jewish women, so they can make some babies.

According to the Associated Press , Rabbi Arele Harel is offering an out of the ordinary solution for Orthodox Jewish gay men who want to raise a conventional family: He fixes them up with Orthodox lesbians.

His matchmaking service, which has just gone online, has met criticism on opposing fronts.

Orthodox Jewish rabbis say Harel should be doing more to encourage gays and lesbians to try to change their sexual orientation. Liberal religious gay groups see Harel's approach as a ploy to suppress homosexuality.

The matchmaking presents an array of challenges. The relationship may be loveless.

The partners may be tempted to seek sexual satisfaction outside the marriage. And the couple may need assistance to get pregnant. But Harel insists he just wants to help people have children, an important commandment of Jewish law.

"The main aspiration here is parenthood," said Harel, 36, from his home in the Jewish West Bank settlement of Shilo. "It allows them to become parents in a way that is permitted by religious Jewish law and prevents a conflict between their religious world and their sexual world."

Potential brides and grooms contact Harel, who meets with them to assess if they are emotionally ready to be fixed up. Harel then picks a suitable match and introduces the parties.

They are then put in touch with therapists who are to assist them in their new life. Once they are married, they each pay around $400 for Harel's service.

Harel says his online matchmaking service will be fully operational by the end of the year . He also says he in the process of training five matchmakers, all of them gay, to help to him play gay yentl.

So far more than 80 people have expressed interest in Harel's matchmaking service since it went online two weeks ago.

Sex | Kardashian Sex Tape Buyer Still Anonymous

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The owner of the reputed Kim Kardashian sex video says the prospective buyer of the tape is not connected to the reality television star.

Steve Hirsch told TMZ.com he has been negotiating with a proxy, who insists the buyer is not Kim herself or anyone associated with her.

Hirsch, who wants $30 million for the steamy video, said, "It made sense the entire time it would be Kim, but it appears it is not."

That jibes with sources in the Kardashian camp who have insisted Kim isn't dealing with Hirsch, although she is anxious to find out who the mystery buyer is.

Hirsch said he was told the buyer's identity and reasons for going to such trouble and expense once a sale is finalized. Hirsch cautioned the two sides are still far apart on price.

Sex | And The Most Tolerant Nation For Sex Scandals Is..

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - When politician Dominique Strauss-Kahn arrived in France last week, cleared of a New York sex scandal, he returned home smiling despite facing a frosty reception. Maybe he should have gone to Mexico, instead.

Pay attention Anthony Weiner, Tiger Woods, Brett Favre and others caught up in public, sexual indiscretions.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday shows 57 percent of Mexicans would be either very likely or somewhat likely to tolerate the sexual indiscretions of stars and politicians.

They were followed by Belgians at 55 percent. In the United States, the tolerance factor was 48 percent. France, in fact, was way down the list at only 33 percent, while Japan was the least forgiving country at only 28 percent.

In total, 44 percent of some 18,700 respondents in more than 20 countries said they would likely tolerate a scandal.

The Reuters/Ipsos survey also asked if behavior exhibited in sex scandals was reflective of people's true personalities, or if fame and power led them to think they could get away with their acts.

In France, some 80 percent of respondents said fame was the root cause, while Mexico was about equally divided: 49 percent on the side of power and 51 percent on personality.

Throughout all the world, the decision was roughly split with 46 percent saying power and 54 percent citing personal characteristics. In the U.S. the percentages were 43 percent power, 57 personality.

"There is a Jekyll and Hyde issue here, and in some places the behavior is just more acceptable," said John Wright, managing director at Ipsos.

In recent months Strauss-Kahn, the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund and a presumed candidate for the French presidency, faced a possible trial in the United States for allegedly attempting to rape a hotel maid.

Last week, New York City prosecutors dropped charges, allowing him to return to France where he faced a mostly chilly public reception and unease among his political allies.

Former U.S. congressman Weiner, golfer Woods and football star Favre faced their own sex scandals in the last two years.

A slight majority of the respondents around the world, 51 percent, said women were just as likely as men to engage in sexual indiscretions but less apt to get caught in the act. Perhaps it's no surprise, Mexicans agreed, at 51 percent.

Making Love | Balancing Between Love And Work

Late to meetings, falling asleep before sex and bursting into tears when she misses her son's first haircut, Parker's heroine confesses: "I love my work, although sometimes I wish I didn't love it so much."

Such is the conundrum in the quest for work-life balance, a kind of holy grail for modern fulfillment. We aspire to love our jobs and accomplish great things, yet in seeking balance we rob some of that energy to direct it elsewhere.

As Carrie Bradshaw might have put it in Parker's former life: Does passion suffer when you impose moderation?

"If I want to be able to make the most impact, I have to spend this amount of time," Kolisetty said, adding this is the time to do it because she has few family obligations.

It is a controversial opinion, as Kolisetty discovered when she wrote about her anti-balance philosophy in a blog post earlier this year and was slammed with angry comments testifying to the physical, emotional and mental toll that a single-minded pursuit of work had on people's lives.

With a third of U.S. employees overworked and reporting more mistakes and poorer health as a result, experts and studies say there's value in moderation - and rather than dampen passion, balance helps fortify it.

First, define 'balance'

What a healthy balance entails is different for everyone - and it might not even be the right word.

Rather than seek "balance," which connotes a 50-50 split or an either/or bargain, Judy Martin views the struggle as a work-life "merge" to account for our culture of 24/7 accessibility.

Many people fear they'll lose their competitive edge if they put down their BlackBerry for a minute, but it's a recipe for burnout, said Martin, who works as a TV news anchor in Long Island and runs worklifenation.com, where she explores workplace issues.

The key to managing the merge, she said, is prioritizing the things that are most important to you and communicating boundaries to employers, spouses and anyone else who demands your time.

"It's about going into the boss's office and having a solution," Martin said. That might mean asking to come in early so you can leave early for school pickup, or designating dinnertime off-limits to work calls but vowing to check in right after.

Martin's interest in workplace wellness began when the Twin Towers tumbled a decade ago. Reporting on the attacks for a radio program, Martin found a way to manage her stress and grief by volunteering each night to sit with the kids of survivors who trekked to ground zero searching for loved ones.

For Martin, balance meant making time to volunteer and meditate so she could refuel. But it's up to each individual to figure out an energy source.

For Kathy Caprino of Connecticut, balance meant seeking work that mattered and making room for hobbies she had long neglected. After 18 years chasing money and ego up the corporate ladder, with her leftover time spent with her two kids, Caprino felt depressed, angry and chronically ill.

Her turning point also came with 9/11 , when she was laid off in the ensuing economic crash. She was so one-dimensional at the time, she said, that she continued to put on a suit every morning and just drive around.

Eventually, after trying on a new hat as a therapist, Caprino founded Ellia Communications, a career coaching business that meshed her knowledge of the corporate world with her passion for helping people. She said she works constantly, more than she ever did before, but she can carve out time for other interests, such as tennis and singing, as well as her family.

Teen Sex | Sex Assault Added To Teen Abduction Charge

MONCTON - A Moncton teen charged in connection with the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl in May is now also charged with sexually assaulting that girl, prior to her disappearance.

Leticia Skye Chappell, 18, appeared in Moncton provincial court with defence lawyer Wendell Maxwell Thursday morning to elect and plead on several charges, but the case was set over until early October. Maxwell explained to the court Chappell is applying for Legal Aid and he will not be her lawyer for the case, so the judge granted the adjournment.

The accused is charged with breaching an undertaking to have no contact with a 13-year-old Moncton girl, abducting that girl, perjury and public mischief for making false statements to police during the investigation.

Chappell was arrested and made her first court appearance on May 19. She was released from custody the next day after a bail hearing and was placed on several conditions. She can't have any contact with the girl, is banned from using a computer and is on a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

She's also not allowed to have contact with any member of the girl's family or Jody Lynn Beaulieu, who's a co-accused.

Sex | Sex Offender Book Hopes To Resolve Growing Problem

Click here to visit the state's sex offender registry.

But officers said a book composed of a list of downtown Nashville's homeless sex offenders will help to resolve the problem and has already resulted in several arrests.

Police make sex offenders their business to keep up with them and to keep them away from children.

"I have two children myself. This is one reason this is so important to me and the officers at central (precinct) is that we get these dangerous felons away from our kids," Metro Police Lt. Horace Temple said.

But when the offenders are homeless, that makes the task a whole lot tougher.

"Being homeless, they're clearly mobile, so it would be easy for them to approach one of those locations they are prohibited from," Metro Police Cmdr. Jason Reinbold said.

Officers in Metro's central precinct recently designed the sex offender book.

Currently there are 75 that are known to live downtown. In the book, the public will find the person's picture and what they were charged with in the past.

"This book is no different than the information online available to any community member," Reinbold said.

Police said by having these books inside patrol cars, it makes it easier for the officers to see, recognize and make an arrest.

"As recently as a week and a half, two weeks ago, there was one (sex offender) on Saturday morning that was loitering in the park who actually had outstanding warrants pertaining to this sexual registry violation, so we were able to arrest him again for those warrants and then charge him for violating it," Temple said.

Since they've come up with the concept, Reinbold said the books, which cost the department just time, paper and ink, have already paid for themselves.

"We've actually made between 15 and 20 arrests this year alone off of that book, so it's been very beneficial to our officers that are on the street in the central precinct," he said.

This concept is currently only being used in Metro's central precinct, located downtown, mostly because that's where a majority of Nashville's homeless live and where they've seen this increased problem. Depending on how successful it is, other precincts may start using the books as well.

In Davidson County there are 1,674 men and women on the state's sex offender registry. Rutherford County came in second highest in Middle Tennessee with 341 offenders.

Sumner County is third with 223 offenders. There are an additional 124 offenders in Robertson County.

There are some other specific features on that site, where you can do things like sign up for email notifications when an offender moves into your neighborhood.

Sex | NOT The Sex Tape Mystery Buyer

Kim Kardashian is NOT the mystery buyer trying to yank her infamous sex tape off the market -- this according to Vivid honcho Steve Hirsch , the man who currently owns the tape.

Hirsch tells TMZ, he still doesn't know who the mystery buyer is -- but a rep for the interested party insists ... it ain't Kim ... or anyone even remotely associated with Kim.

Steve tells us, "It made sense the entire time it would be Kim, but it appears it's not."

According to Steve, the buyer will reveal his identity if the deal gets done -- and explain once and for all why he/she wants to pull the tape from the market.

Steve says he met with the buyer's rep several times in the last week -- but the buyer's still several million dollars short of Hirsch's $30 million asking price .

A source close to Kim tells us, Kim NEVER had anything to do with the deal -- but she's very curious about who's behind it ... and why someone she doesn't know would want to do her such a huge favor.

Anal | Britain Lifts Ban On Gay Men Giving Blood

Britain said Thursday it was lifting a ban on gay men giving blood providing they have had not had homosexual intercourse within a year.

A lifetime ban on blood donation by men who have had sex with another man was introduced in Britain in the 1980s as a response to the spread of AIDS and HIV.

But a review by a panel of leading experts and patient groups found it could no longer support their permanent exclusion.

However, men who have had anal or oral sex with another man in the past 12 months, with or without a condom, will still be barred from donating blood, the Department of Health said.

The experts considered the risk of infection being transmitted through blood, the willingness of potential donors to comply with the selection criteria and improvements in testing donated blood.

The change brings the criteria for men who have had sex with men into line with other groups who are deferred from giving blood for 12 months due to infection risks associated with sexual behaviour.

These include women who have slept with a man who has had sex with another man, people who have slept with prostitutes and those who have had intercourse with anyone who has injected themselves with drugs.

The announcement was welcomed by human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, but he said it fell short of lifting the ban on gay men who always use condoms.

He said: "Although the new policy is a big improvement on the existing discriminatory rules, a 12-month ban is still excessive and unjustified."

Tatchell, who launched the first campaign against the lifetime ban in 1991, added: "Most gay and bisexual men do not have HIV and will never have HIV.

"If they always have safe sex with a condom, have only one partner and test HIV negative, their blood is safe to donate.

"They can and should be allowed to help save lives by becoming donors."

Sex | Sex Case Suspect Faces New Charges

Martell Miller, 17, of Vine Street in Niles was arraigned Sept. 2 on one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree CSC, both using force or coercion against a female under age 17. The incident allegedly occurred Feb. 11 in Niles.

Assistant Prosecutor Steve Pierangeli said a preliminary hearing on the new charges against Miller will be held Tuesday morning in Berrien County Trial Court in Niles.

In the teen video sex extortion scandal case, Miller faces five charges: two counts of first-degree CSC, two counts of third-degree CSC and one count of extortion.

The fifth youth, Trey Nichols, faces child pornography charges in connection with the production of the recording as well as charges in two separate incidents involving other alleged victims.

Martin, Miller, Nichols and Washington face mid-October trials on the original charges against them. Murphy accepted a plea deal in late May, pleading guilty to one count of third-degree CSC and one count of possession of child pornography in exchange for testifying against the other four.

It still has not been decided whether the other four will be tried separately or together.

Hot Sex | Hot Tix: Jimmy Buffett, Leftover Salmon, Lucinda Williams And More

Lucinda Williams long ago earned the kind of credibility most roots artists would kill for, and potentially coast on, throughout a better-than-average career. Hot Sex | Is Tragedy Now Sexier Than...Sex Itself?

Up until now, The Real Housewives franchise was known for shopping sprees, sipping martinis, and the occasional (ok, constant) catfight. But all that changed this summer when the reality TV series suffered a tragic fate: the suicide of a cast member .

But the show must go on. And it did...to some of its highest ratings, ever. Which got us thinking...

RELATED: Coroner's Report Details Chilling Russell Armstrong Suicide Scene

Which sells more, sex or tragedy?

We usually tune into reality series to see who's banging who, hot bodies on display, bad surgery and steamy romps in a hot tub. Hey, it's what Snooki and her Jersey Shore guidos trained us to do!

But we think that is so not the case this time.

Now we know that tragedies aren't sexy-not even close. And sadly, this isn't the first time this has happened on a reality show . But when Bravo's ratings came out this week, we couldn't help but wonder if the 42 percent higher ratings had to do with Russell Armstrong 's tragic suicide.

Did 2.2 million viewers tune into the reality soap to get the dish on Taylor Armstrong 's late husband?

We think the answer is obviously yes .

So, tell us, what makes you tune in and watch these reality shows: sex appeal or a sad story? Both? Neither?

Sex | Kim Kardashian Isn't Buying Her Sex Tape: So Who Is?

Kim Kardashian isn't the mystery buyer trying to remove her sex tape from the market -- so who could it be?

According to Vivid Entertainment head honcho Steve Hirsch, no one close to Kim is trying to buy the rights to her sex tape, either. That means that her mom manager Kris Jenner isn't the mystery buyer, and her hubby Kris Humphries isn't trying to remove it from the market as a late wedding present. It also seemed possible that a rich friend or associate of Kim's late father might have been honoring his memory by trying to rid the world of the sex tape. However, it's highly unlikely that Ray J would pay to lose his own cash cow.

It's extremely hard to guess who would be trying to remove Kim Kardashian's sex tape from the market besides those close to her, but there are a few other suspects. Maybe some rich Armenian man thinks that Kim is giving her people a bad name, or maybe he was touched by the way she has spoken out against Armenian genocide. Or maybe there's just some rich guy out there who wants to be the only one in possession of the sex tape -- he could want to become the sole owner of the tape because he has some sort of weird fetish, or he could just have a similar mentality to the guy who paid to know who the song "You're so Vain" is about or those crazy art collectors who pay millions to own stolen works of art (this is the only time Kim Kardashian's sex tape will ever be compared to a work of art). There are just some weird people out there who get off on having things that no one else does.

There was also a rather funny theory in the comments of the TMZ article about the sex tape theorizing that Paris Hilton may have bought the rights to it because she can't stand that Kim's sex tape sells better than her own.

Whatever the case, Steve Hirsh has said that the mystery buyer has promised to reveal himself (herself?) if the deal ever goes through and reveal why he/she spent the money on removing it from the market.

However, maybe this whole "mystery buyer" business is just a way for Vivid to get people to pay to see Kim's sex tape before it disappears forever -- after all, the mystery buyer story broke shortly after Kim's wedding when there was already some renewed interest in the tape. Once Vivid decides that the publicity generated by this little ploy isn't bringing in any more business, Steve Hirsh will just let everyone know that he and the mystery buyer weren't able to come to an agreement, and that will be the end of it.

So what do you think -- is there a caring/creepy person out there trying to be the sole owner of Kim Kardashian's sex tape, or is Vivid making all of this "mystery buyer" stuff up?

Teen Sex | No Shame In Teen 'sexting'

Two teenage "sexters" were recently reported to have been charged and prosecuted with child pornography offences and placed on the sex offender register in Victoria, branding them criminals and ruining their career prospects.

Under Commonwealth law, teenagers under age 18 who consensually photograph and send images of their own bodies in nude, sexualised poses can be charged with production and distribution of child pornography. Anyone to whom they send those images can be charged with possession of child pornography, even if the sender of the image intended for them to have it.

In NSW the age of consent is 16. This means a 17-year-old girl can legally have sex with her boyfriend (or girlfriend) but if she films it, or if she photographs her own breasts and sends that image to her partner, she can be prosecuted under Commonwealth law. Understandably teenagers find it difficult to comprehend this legal inconsistency and there are some serious questions to be raised.

How can a person be charged for photographing their own body? And how can they be considered both the victim and the perpetrator of the same crime? This seems about as logical as charging a 15-year-old boy who masturbates with "molestation of a child" and ordering him to stay 500 metres away from his own genitals.

More to the point, child pornography laws were put in place to protect children, not to criminalise teenage sexuality. And what good can come from grouping sexually curious teenagers in with convicted gang rapists and paedophiles? Not only does this ruin their lives unnecessarily, but it also undermines the power and authority of the sex offender register. We must preserve the integrity of this register by reserving it for individuals who pose an actual threat to society.

Of course, if images are produced without consent (such as in the Australian Defence Force Academy Skype scandal, where a female cadet was filmed unknowingly during sex) or if images are distributed without consent to third parties, this should be treated as an unlawful act. And it should be unlawful regardless of the victim's age. But in acts of agreed, consensual sexting where images do not go beyond the intended recipient, it is overkill to prosecute these teens.

Victoria has already announced an inquiry into the laws, and NSW and all other states and territories should follow suit. Part of this inquiry should also address why it is that no accurate data has been kept on how many teenagers have been placed on the sex offender register in relation to sexting offences. It should also address the radical inconsistency in sentencing.

Right now the courts are continuing to crack down on consenting teenage sexters while simultaneously going easy on adult sexual predators who film women and girls without their consent.

Last month it was reported that a Sydney man who secretly filmed up the skirts of hundreds of women and girls would avoid jail.

Sabapathy Chandrahasan, a 56-year-old architect, was arrested by police at Central Station in February after taking more than 1000 pictures and videos up women's skirts.

Some of the footage contained women who were not wearing underwear and other pieces involved schoolgirls, some of whom were under 16. And yet the magistrate handed down a suspended sentence, meaning that Chandrahasan will avoid jail time and it is unclear whether he will be required to register as a sex offender.

How the law can be so draconian when it comes to consensual teenage sexting and so lenient in matters of non-consensual, perverted upskirting is breathtakingly absurd.

But other institutions can be equally guilty of failing to distinguish between acts that pose little harm, and those that represent serious threats.

The Herald reported last week on an incident where a hidden camera was found in the change room of an unnamed Sydney private school. Shockingly, the school did not pursue the matter with police because it "didn't want the disclosure". In other words, it decided to hush up the incident to save some public embarrassment. Not only is this in direct contradiction of the school's obligations as mandatory reporter, but the principal may have inadvertently colluded with a potential child pornographer by failing to report the crime.

The common sense test in all of this should be to look at the issue of consent. Where it is lacking we should take action.

Outrage over Boobs on Bikes during RWC watch

Organisers have cancelled a Boobs on Bikes parade throughcentral Auckland which was planned to coincide with the Rugby WorldCup match between the All Blacks and France.

The group Family First slammed the proposed parade, saying itwould promote the porn industry and staging it on a weekend whenfamilies with children would be in the city was offensive.

Parade organiser Steve Crow says the organisers have beenadvised by Auckland Council that they can find no reason to deny apermit for the parade.

But he says public opinion is against it.

"For the first time in the history of Boobs On Bikes the tide ofpublic opinion is most definitely against us holding this event atthe date and time proposed due to the 'family nature' of the bigrugby thingy that is happening all over NZ at this time," Crow saidin a statement.

"A recent online poll shows 68% of people against us holdingBoobs On Bikes at this time. So, and in keeping with ourlongstanding belief in democracy.....as much as it pains us to doso, we are cancelling the NZX Rugby D-Cup Boobs On Bikes."

Crow said that from a legal perspective the parade was all goand added not that we have ever cared about permits anyway.

The parade would have featured topless models riding onmotorbikes through the city.

The All Blacks are set to play France at Eden Park on September24.

Family First 'stoked'

Family First says it's "stoked" that the proposed parade hasbeen canned.

National Director of Family First NZ Bob McCoskrie said familiesare the real winners, but so too is the image of New Zealand whichis being beamed to the world because of the Rugby World Cup.

"Families coming to the Auckland city centre on that day nolonger have to worry about being confronted by a tacky offensiveporn parade," he said.

McCroskrie said it is still concerning that the council islegally unable to prevent future parades like this happening, evenduring the Santa parade.

"Family First will continue to plead with politicians to amendthe law so that councils do have the clout to act in the bestinterests of families and prevent these parades happening in theirarea," he said."

"The fact that the hard-core porn industry can give'two-fingered waves' to local councils and the police proves thatthe protection of children and families is not being givenpriority."

"Children and families deserve the protection of the state fromoffensive and sexualised behaviour promulgated by the pornindustry."

Sex | Rick Perry Sex Scandal!

OK, we've done our search engine optimization for the day.

But this is a great old story I stumbled across this morning, dating back to 1986, when then-state Rep. Rick Perry sent an anti-drug video to the 26 high schools in his district -- without realizing there was a nude sex scene tacked on at the end.

The AP had the story when one freshman health class at Baird High School discovered the error:

Varner said he was telling his freshman health class what would be on a test when the eyes of his students became glued on the screen.

"All of them were bug-eyed and looking up there. There were these two people in bed," he said. "I turned the machine off and tried to go on.

"It wasn't easy with 30 kids chuckling and giggling."

The scene was from the movie "1984," and had apparently been added by accident when the House Technical Services director copied the videos for Perry. The technician took full responsibility, and Perry's legislative aide said at the time that Perry had no knowledge the scene was there.

Perry said he was shocked to learn of the scene on the tape he sent to Baird High School. After checking his copy and finding the same scene, Perry said he was convinced all 26 copies had the "embarrassing" scene and he asked that all copies be returned.

"We were doing it for public service, and it backfired on us to a degree," he said. "We were trying to help kids with drug problems, and now it's totally ineffective with this five-second skin shot."

Sex | Kate Winslet Schools Everyone On Inclusive Sex Ed

I love these "life" articles that challenge what I think of asmy modern and common concerns, be it sex, child raising, socialmedia, etc.

I am a parent of young girls, and I like to think about myoptions for how to guide them through life. How do I talk aboutlove? How do I model love in my own life? What I want to achieveand what I do achieve may not sync up.

Kate Winslet seems reasonable to me in her approach.

Most people hold freedom as an absolute value. I think love isan absolute value too, and I think my girls will be better offknowing they will find love someday of their own choosing. Theywill discover their preference as they begin to feel love. And theywill be reminded throughout their young lives that they are free tolove whomever they feel love for. And I hope this knowledge willallow them to smile on loving people without restrictions.

I like this article because it reminds me to think about what isbest for my daughters. Now I only have the easy part of turningthese thoughts into action!

Porn | Elk Grove Man Admits To Producing Child Porn

Bradley Dayley now faces 60 years to life in state prison for his sex crimes in addition to 15 to 40 years in federal prison for the pornography charges.

Federal authorities say he photographed and videotaped his lewd acts with a girl who was 9 years old when he started molesting her.

The Elk Grove police along with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office investigated Dayley, leading to his arrest in 2009.

"It took two years getting there, but it’s a great job by the prosecutor and everybody involved," Elk Grove Det. Kevin Papineau told the Citizen last month after Dayley’s county case ended.

Papineau led the investigation after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded him Dayley’s photographs. The images were earlier distributed on the Internet and discovered in Europe.

One photograph featured a garbage can that displayed the Elk Grove’s city seal, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Papineau spent 28 days studying the photographs and following a trail that led to Dayley’s Elk Grove home.

None of the victims or their parents contacted the police about Dayley before his arrest.

"There was no indication that anybody else knew what was going on," Papineau said last month.

Police searched Dayley’s home computer and discovered hundreds of sexually explicit photographs and videos of one of his victims. Detectives determined they were taken at his home.

Federal authorities recently reported that Dayley admitted to performing sexual acts on the victim and recording them. He also reportedly had thousands of explict images and videos taken of other children.

Elk Grove police also linked Dayley to a second victim who was 16 when he began molesting her.

Dayley will be sentenced in the Sacramento Superior Court on Sept. 23 and he’ll later be sentenced in federal court on Jan. 6.

He also faces a $250,000 fine for each of his federal charges, an order of restitution to the victims, and a lifelong supervised release.

Sex | Sex Offender Gets 15 Months For Not Registering

David John Smith, 49,pled guilty to failing to register as a sex offender.

Officials say Smith had been convicted of multiple sex offenses against minors, including rape and sodomy, while serving in the United States Navy under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Smith was released from prison inDecember2009.

Smith had signed a document stating he was required to register as a sex offender no matter where he lived when released from prison.

Officials say Smith didn't register when he moved to Evansville.

Once Smith serves out his sentence, he willhave to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and will have to wear a tracking device for the first six months he's out.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse by the Department of Justice.

Sex | Why The Democrats Learned To Love Same-sex Marriage

And the archbishop is right about something else, too: O’Malley’s announcement, which was lauded by advocates and sympathetic legislators, was testament to a tipping point we have reached in American politics. President Obama may be the last nominee for president from his party who does not openly declare support for same-sex marriage. It is now not only acceptable but encouraged for Democratic politicians with national ambitions to advocate full marriage equality for gay couples.

O’Malley, a Catholic who earlier in his career advocated civil unions as an alternative to gay marriage, shared little when asked about his personal evolution on the issue at his July announcement. He instead couched his support by discussing legal rights and protections.

In an interview on WTOP (103.5) radio since then, the governor allowed that he previously "made a judgment . . . that the place for consensus, the point at which that wave would crest, if you will, was around civil unions. I think we are past that point, and I believe that the consensus that needs to be reached is on marital equality rights."

O’Malley echoed that position this past week during remarks at a fundraiser for Equality Maryland, the state’s leading gay rights advocacy group. "There are very few issues I think that any of us can point to over the last several decades," he said, "that . . . have moved as quickly as this issue has."

New York joined five other states and the District in allowing marriage between gay couples. Others on the list include Iowa and New Hampshire - the first two presidential nominating states.

It is far too early, of course, to know who will be in the mix for the Democratic nomination next time around, but it’s a reasonable bet that the eventual nominee will share Cuomo and O’Malley’s position on same-sex marriage. Cuomo’s success raised his national profile and gave him a more prominent place on lists of possible 2016 contenders. Since becoming chairman of the Democratic Governors Association in December, O’Malley’s name has started showing up on such lists, too.

"We’re at a point where you can be one of the early leaders on the issue and get well-deserved credit, or you can risk looking like you were behind the times," said Joe Trippi, a longtime Democratic strategist. Trippi thinks that by 2016, we will have moved beyond the issue - and that the fanfare surrounding "the good old days" of New York and other states legalizing same-sex marriage could almost look quaint.

Most viewers of the films WWE has churned out will notice an unsettling trend: the women featured in these films are, frankly, totally hopeless and do nothing except get kidnapped by the bad guy and wait for a big burly man to come rescue them. The WWE Divas may be smart, sexy and powerful, but these poor girls aren't. Heck, they get kidnapped more times than Daphne from Scooby-Doo .

Don't believe me? Well, John Cena's first starring vehicle, The Marine , saw Cena playing an ass-kicking marine (well, duh) who is holidaying with his beautiful blonde wife (played by the relatively well-known actress Kelly Carlson, see previous slide) when, out-of-nowhere, she gets kidnapped by a gang of robbers and he has to save her, breaking all the rules in the process!

The Marine 2 , withTed Dibiase (who was so bad in this he might as well have gotten acting lessons from Tommy Wiseau), had roughly the same plot. While the couple are on vacation, the hero's blonde, beautiful wife gets abducted by terrorists and, once again, the titularmarine (who just wanted a nice, relaxing vacation, dammit!) has to spring into action to save her, breaking all the rules in the process!

John Cena's next movie, 12 Rounds , didn't feature any marines, but we were once again treated to a lazy retread of the same old plot: Cena plays a tough cop whose beautiful blonde girlfriend gets abducted by an old adversary, and he has to complete 12 gruelling tasks in order to get her back, breaking all the rules in the process!

Personally, I'm hoping that, eventually, there will be a WWE film in which the villain kidnaps the hero's wife, only it turns out she was a terrible woman who nagged him all the time and generally made his life miserable, and the hero is more than happy to see the back of her. Instead of trying to save her, he casually goes home and plays his Xbox for the duration of the movie.

Back on topic, these women mentioned, while portrayed as dumb and hopeless in every possible sense, still had a far easier time than the chicks in Kane 's gruesome slasher flick See No Evil . In that film, almost all of the (scantily-clad) female characters are hunted down, tortured and brutally murdered during the course of the movie. Yikes.

Sex | Tribal Council Adopts Sex Offender Law

ELKO " The Te-Moak Tribal Council adopted a sex offenderordinance in August in conjunction with the impending expiration ofthe Violence Against Women and Department of JusticeReauthorization Act of 2005.

The registration and notification ordinance, according toTe-Moak tribal Chairman Bryan Cassadore, complies with the AdamWalsh Act and gives tribal authorities the ability to monitor sexoffenders' status. It also gives them greater legal leeway inprosecuting offenders who violate tribal laws.

"The Te-Moak tribe has no prior law regarding sex offenders,"Cassadore said. "Essentially the state and federal government wouldlose jurisdiction once the sex offender crossed into Te-Moak tribaljurisdiction."

Sex offenders are required to register with the Elko CountySheriff's Office, which then refers the information to the state. However, legal authority to pursue a non-compliant offender livingon tribal land would not necessarily be empowered to county, stateor even federal law agencies.

Cassadore told the Free Press that the council wants to protectchildren and other members of the community from sexual offensesoccurring on tribal lands.

The ordinance calls for the formation of a sex offenderregistry, and offenders from Lander and Elko counties will beincluded under Te-Moak authority.

The ordinance states that both native and non-native peopleliving on tribal lands must register. It also calls for theimplementation of the Tribe and Territory Sex Offender Registry. That information site can interface with the Dru Sjodin NationalSex Offender Public Website, according to the Department ofJustice.

There will also be a Te-Moak Tribal Sex Offender Registry sitewith information on sex offender safety and education, as well asadmonishments against using the public information for purposes ofharassment, etc.

Those convicted of sexual offenses must register. These offensesinclude attempts and conspiracies to commit sex offenses, tribalcounts of indecent exposure or sexual assault, and all state andfederal offenses as defined in the respective laws. Recognizedoffenses are also those categorized under military code, foreignlaws and juvenile crimes. Juvenile offenders, however, will not belisted on public websites or registries.

The registry also classifies offenders into a three-tier systemlike the one used by state governments around the country. Eachoffense origin or circumstance is covered under a specific tier, sothe tribal government can assign its own tier categorization to theoffender. The ordinance also outlines what information is requiredfrom offenders and renewal time frames.

"The security of the Te-Moak community has been a primaryfocus," Cassadore said. "With this new law we add another layer ofprotection for Native American children ... There has been a push forthis ordinance because of the strong desire to protect the Te-MoakTribe of Western Shoshone and victims of sexual assault."

Anal | DVD Review: 'The Perfect Host'

Everyone knows how hilarious the deadpan David Hyde Pierce can be after getting to know his snarky, snobbish, anal-retentive therapist on " Frasier ." But who knew he was capable of scaring the hell out of an audience as a snarky, snobbish, anal-retentive psycho, the way he does so brilliantly in "The Perfect Host"?

Australian director and co-writer Nick Tomnay cooks up a deliciously slippery psychological thriller about career criminal John Taylor ( Clayne Crawford ), a hapless bank robber with an injured foot and an urgent need to get out of sight, who cons his way into the sleek L.A. bachelor pad of one Warwick Wilson (Pierce), claiming to be a friend of a friend from out of town. Warwick is in the middle of preparing a fabulous roast duck dinner for expected guests, but he takes pity when John claims he's been mugged, lost his luggage and has nowhere else to go. Warwick even graciously invites John to stay for supper and offers him a glass of wine, but all of this mutual civility instantly evaporates when a radio news flash makes it plain who John really is.

The intruder turns ugly, threatening Warwick at knifepoint, but he's soon shocked to find that his fastidious little host can turn even uglier " with horrific results.

Crawford serves well as the dangerous guest, smoldering like a young Ray Liotta , but Pierce is the perfectly priceless scene-stealer all the way through, delivering acidly witty dialogue as only he can, mixing dark mirth with real menace as his character reveals, with a chilling, thin-lipped smile, ever deepening layers of psychotic malevolence. Think of Dr. Niles Crane , finally pushed over the edge by his pompous brother and his grumpy dad.

And as the harrowing night unfolds, John " and the viewer " are in for several more jarring surprises in this darkly comic and highly original chiller.

Sex | McCook Mayor Jeff Tobolski Mum On Sex Addict's Hiring At Gym

~li~ Reprints

Cook County Commissioner Jeff Tobolski refused to answer several critical questions during a deposition concerning a convicted felon and sex addict getting hired at an indoor gym owned by the suburban village where Tobolski is mayor.

Tobolski has provided conflicting information concerning the employment of the felon, Felice "Phil" Vanaria, who was a political volunteer in Tobolski's successful run for county board last year.

Tobolski was deposed in July as part of a lawsuit filed by a victim of Vanaria. Vanaria pleaded guilty in 2007 to official misconduct and bribery for conning the woman into a sex act in return for a nonexistent government job. Vanaria was then a Cook County employee and had a history of government jobs and complaints against him by women.

Tobolski is not named in the lawsuit but was deposed about Vanaria getting hired for a part-time job at the village-owned McCook Athletic Exposition Center, known as the Max, in early 2010. About the same time, Vanaria began working for free on Tobolski's campaign.

In the deposition, Tobolski repeatedly refused to answer what was said in a meeting between him, Vanaria and Michael Del Galdo, the village's attorney for the Max, after Tobolski said he learned of Vanaria's felonies. Tobolski cited attorney-client privilege, but the victim's attorneys, Dana Kurtz and Heidi Sleper, will ask a federal judge next week to compel Tobolski to answer.

Vanaria's victim is suing the county, and a Cook County assistant state's attorney asked that Tobolski's deposition be kept secret, arguing Tobolski's words could be taken out of context. A judge denied the request Thursday. In a statement, Tobolski praised the judge's decision, saying its release would set the record straight.

Tobolski has provided conflicting information about Vanaria's employment.

In January, Tobolski indicated in an interview that he had previously known about Vanaria's criminal background and had research done on whether his hiring was legal.

Del Galdo confirmed this, writing in a statement in January: "Attorneys conducted research on whether Mr. Vanaria was eligible for public employment, and there was no state law or local ordinance that prohibited his hiring."

This week, in a timeline provided by his office, Tobolski said he only learned of Vanaria's convictions in November 2010, after Vanaria failed a background check, but months after he had been hired. Tobolski emphasized that Vanaria had been hired and paid by the management company running the Max for the village at the time " not the village itself. Village records, though, show McCook was paying Vanaria directly. A Tobolski spokesman said the village did that during a transition period in management.

Tobolski said he had nothing to do with the hiring of Vanaria. Facing being fired, Vanaria resigned from the Max in early 2011.

Kurtz, one of the victim's attorneys, asked Tobolski in the deposition: "Now, had you known that Mr. Vanaria had been convicted of . . . official misconduct and bribery, would have hired him to work at the Village of McCook?"

"You know, I am nobody's confessor," Tobolski replied. "When I am looking at an employment issue, I do what I have always done. If there is not a legal basis to deny employability, then I would not deny it."

Teen Sex | Ex-deputy Sentenced In Explorer Teen Sex Case

VICTORVILLE " A former San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to 270 days in jail for having sex with a teenage female.

Anthony Benjamin, 31, of Beaumont, was also sentenced to three years probation while the court has ordered payments of $505 for pre-sentencing investigation costs, plus $220 restitution.

According to the Victorville Daily Press, Benjamin was immediately taken into custody at the courthouse in the high desert community. He has received credit for one day served in jail.

Benjamin had pleaded no contest to two counts of oral copulation with a person younger than 18. The crimes took place during a ride-along with the teenage girl who was part of the sheriff's Explorer program.

Explorers are youths who receive in-the-field training to learn about law enforcement.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept. has suspended the ride-alongs because of the Benjamin case, plus two other incidents that involved the Explorer program.

In July, Jason Anguiano, 27, of Rialto pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, the same victim in another case involving an ex-deputy.

Nathan Gastineau, 31, of Redlands, is scheduled to appear at San Bernardino Superior Court for a pre-preliminary hearing on Sept. 22 and a preliminary hearing on Sept. 26.

Gastineau has pled not guilty to three separate charges in relation to sex with a minor. He was the Explorer's supervisor at the Highland sheriff's substation.

Last month, Benjamin received a 180-day sentence, plus three years probation, but does not have to register as a sex offender, according to county officials.

Sex | SF DA Plans To Continue Using Ex-State Cop As Prosecution Witness

"The state doesn't pick and choose witnesses," DA Angela "Spence" Pacheco said Thursday.

The day before, a Santa Fe woman was acquitted of a DWI charge after she testified that Lopez propositioned her in April during her drunken-driving arrest.

Pacheco said that in most DWI cases, the only witnesses are the arresting officers.

"If he weren't to testify, then there's no cases," she said.

According to The Associated Press, DWI defendant Elizabeth Enriquez testified Wednesday that Lopez told her she made his patrol car smell good.

And the married woman said the officer asked if she ever thought about having someone on the side to "play with."

Earlier this summer, a security camera photographed a uniformed Lopez having sex with a woman on the hood of a small unmarked car at Santa Fe County-owned La Bajada Ranch near La Cienega, south of town.

State Police officials wouldn't say if the officer in the pictures was on duty. The camera was intended to catch vandals or burglars.

Lopez testified in the Wednesday DWI case. But he wasn't asked about the flirting allegations made by Enriquez and didn't talk to reporters outside the courtroom.

The Journal last month broke the story of the existence of security camera images of Lopez having sex on the car hood with a partially clad woman. The pictures were released under a public records request by the Journal and at least one other news organization.

TV stations broadcast the web-posted the photos, and the pictures went viral around the world, becoming fodder for bloggers and late-night comedians.

State Police have never identified the officer in the pictures, calling the case a pending personnel matter. But the Journal has learned it is Lopez, who in 2010 was named State Police's "Officer of the Year" for the agency's District One.

State Police spokesman Sgt. Tim Johnson said over the weekend that Lopez is no longer with the Department of Public Safety, but he hasn't confirmed reports that Lopez has been fired.

Other cases

Johnson confirmed Thursday that State Police Deputy Chief Pete Kassetas has made an inquiry to Pacheco to get "an accurate count of how many cases (Lopez) has."

Pacheco said the District Attorney's Office does not keep track of cases based on who the charging officer is, but estimates Lopez has "maybe a couple dozen DWI cases" pending, as well as some domestic violence cases. Pacheco said there are about five female DWI defendants.

Pacheco said her office "is obligated to go forward with those cases" with Lopez as a witness. "From our perspective, we're going to continue to put him on the stand," she said.

She said she's not concerned with whatever defendants say in court or with how jurors view the former officer's credibility.

"We won't know what a defendant will say until we're in court," Pacheco said.

Pacheco also said that the prosecutor who handled the Enriquez DWI case informed her that the jurors' decision to acquit Wednesday had nothing to do with Enriquez's testimony about Lopez's alleged flirting.

"They said that they didn't realize it was Bert Lopez," Pacheco said. "They said their decision was based on the (police dashboard) video, and it was their impression that she did not appear intoxicated."

Spokesman Johnson said Enriquez has never filed a complaint with the Department of Public Safety.

"It also shows his character that he showed up to testify," Johnson said of Lopez.

Sept. 8, 2011 " Fired State Police Officer Accused of Propositioning Suspect

By The Associated Press

A Santa Fe woman says the New Mexico State Police officer caught on video having sex on the hood of his patrol car propositioned her in April during her drunken-driving arrest.

Elizabeth Enriquez testified Wednesday in Santa Fe that officer Bert Lopez told her she made his patrol car smell good. And the married woman said the officer asked if she ever thought about having someone on the side to "play with."

Earlier this summer, a security camera taped a uniformed Lopez having sex with a woman on his patrol car on remote county-owned property. Police officials wouldn't say if Lopez was on duty but noted the woman wasn't connected to any of his cases.

Lopez was fired last week after the video went viral.

He testified in the DWI case. But he wasn't asked about the allegations and didn't talk to reporters outside the courtroom.

The woman was acquitted of DWI.
