Porn | Former Used Car Dealer Arrested On Child Porn Charges

BRIDGEPORT -- A former used car dealer with a lengthy criminal history turned himself in to state police Wednesday on child porn charges.

Nathan Schultz, 35, of Fresh Meadow Drive, Trumbull, was charged with third-degree possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance said Schultz, who is on probation and has served multiple terms in prison, was found in a 2007 raid to have electronic equipment containing child pornography.

Vance said Schultz was released on $25,000 bond and given special conditions to report immediately to his parole office.

According to court records, Schultz's criminal history dates back to 2003 and includes arrests in Shelton and Norwalk.

He was convicted in 2003 of hindering prosecution after an arrest in Shelton and sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence.

In 2004, he was convicted on two separate occasions on charges of first-degree larceny, and sale of a controlled substance but again did not spend time in prison.

His first prison stint came after he was found guilty on first-degree assault charges in Norwalk in 2005, stemming from a 2003 incident.

Police said Schultz smashed a cocktail glass into the face of a South Norwalk bar patron in April 2003. The victim needed 41 stitches to repair his busted face. Schultz, who at the time owned a used-car lot, spent five years of an eight-year sentence in prison.

In 2007, Schultz returned to jail, spending three years in prison on a conviction for possession of narcotics with the intent to sell. The charge came after the same raid that police said netted the child pornography that led to the most recent charges.

State Police Computer Crimes and Electronic Evidence Unit detectives raided the house and seized 200 Roxiocodone pills, 324 unidentified pills, 30 tablets and five vials of anabolic steroids. Police said they also seized a digital scale, cash, video surveillance equipment and nine 1-karat diamonds.

Schultz is set to appear Sept. 21 at Bridgeport Superior Court .
