Many people enjoy antiquing; others enjoy hot, alien sex that ends in near-decapitation. Very few enjoy -- with the possible exception of Charlie Sheen -- both at the same time.
Luckily, Tuesday's television offers the best of both worlds.
For the antique set, a new Pawn Stars enters the world of Wild Bill Hickok tonight.
Rick and Corey Harrison, of the Gold Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, look to purchase a relic from the Old West in an episode aptly titled "Ace in the Hole." The treasure in question? An antique professional gambler's tool kit, equipped for every game of the trade, along with a secret compartment for the gambler in a tough spot.
Other items in the hunt in tonight's outing: rare pieces of 1896 U.S. currency known as the Educational Series, and a 1950s radiation-detecting Geiger counter from the Cold War.
See if the gents get their prizes, or end up dealt a hand of black aces and eights.
For those who prefer kinky, violent aliens, Natasha Henstridge delivers the goods -- and then some -- in the cult sci-fi thriller, Species (1995).
In the film, Henstridge plays Sil, an alien-human hybrid hungry for a mate. Even more surprising? Her human hunters include two Oscar-winning actors: Forest Whitaker and Ben Kingsley.
Henstridge has transformed from alien to witch in a new series this fall. The Secret Circle on CW (premiering Sept. 15) is a companion show to The Vampire Diaries , which is also creatively helmed by Kevin Williamson. Based on the novels by L.J. Smith, the story revolves around Cassie (Brittany Robertson of the short-lived series, Life Unexpected ), a teenager who learns she is a witch and part of a secret coven. Henstridge will play Dawn Chamberlain, the mother of one coven member with her own magical past.
"I do good villain, I guess," she said last week in an interview at ComicCon, the annual pop-culture convention in San Diego. "Kevin Williamson really drew me to (the series). He's got the Midas touch, and it's great to join a show that's young and hip."
"There's a lot (more) going on than meets the eye with the character. ... She's in a position where she wants to keep her eye (on) and control everything. ... I keep using the term puppet master; she's pulling a lot of different strings."
But for tonight, at least, Natasha's just pulling apart partners in the boudoir.
