JUPITER "The Grand Slam/Castaways Tournament Series is pleased to announce the 3rd Annual Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure Ladies KDW Tournament will be held Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar in Jupiter, Florida.
Fish for a Cure is an all-female fishing tournament benefiting local breast and ovarian cancer patients. However this tournament is so much more than fishing! Each boat "team" must consist of four female anglers, a captain and mate (which can be male). The tournament limits entries to 100 boats. Each "team" has a theme; there are boat decorating contests, costume contests and cocktail contests as well as a male mate auction!
The tournament weekend will kick off with the Captain's Meeting Sept. 30 at the Square Grouper Tiki Bar and will wrap up with an amazing party Saturday evening Oct. 1 featuring live music, fireworks and much more. Tickets for the Friday and Saturday night events are available for $25 (separate ticket needed for each night) and may be purchased in advance at Grand Slam Sportfishing Supply stores (Jupiter or Riviera Beach) or at the door.
In the first two years of Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure, more than $100,000 has been donated to various cancer-related organizations. This year's beneficiaries are the Cancer Alliance for Help and Hope and H.O.W. - Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper.
The organizations that benefit from Fish for a Cure couldn't be more grateful. "We are so fortunate to be a recipient of the annual Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure ladies fishing tournament again this year," said Anne Messer, H.O.W. Board Member. "The support we receive from this wonderful event will allow us to continue to ease some of the financial burdens many women in Palm Beach County experience when they are undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. The Bluewater Babes organization is a valuable partner in our community and we are grateful for their support and vision."
Jean Fischer from The Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope, Inc. added "We have been honored to be a recipient of funds raised by the Bluewater Babes tournament. This money has been used to assist breast cancer patients with normal everyday living expenses such as their rent, mortgage, utilities, car payments, car and health insurance. These women are undergoing major financial issues at this time and because of the funds received, they are able to stay in their homes, have utilities, a way to treatment and this lessens the stress on them. They can concentrate on healing and not where the next rent payment is coming from."
Sponsors for the 3rd Annual Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure Ladies KDW Tournament include PNC Bank, The Gardens Mall, Henley's Custom Marine, HMY Yachts, Pirate's Cove Resort Marina, The Square Grouper Tiki Bar/Castaways Marina and Grand Slam Sportfishing Supply. Food is being provided by EVO in Tequesta and Annie's Vintage Gourmet in Jupiter. Awards provided by Jupiter Dermatology and Hair Restoration and The Gardens Mall.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available ranging from $250-$10,000 and donations are now being accepted for the raffle and silent auction that will be held during the Captain's Meeting party.
