On Tuesday, a woman told sheriff's officials that Rachel Hart had sex with her 14-year-old son at their Ocala home, and also had sex with her son's friends, who are ages 14 and 15.
Detective Bobby LeVay interviewed the woman's son, who told the official that the first time he had sex with Hart was in October 2010 and the last time was on his birthday, earlier this year. He said Hart has known him since he was 10. The teenager said he and his friends took turns having sex with Hart on one occasion.
The detective talked with the other boys, who gave similar accounts.
LeVay said he interviewed Hart, and she alleged that the woman's son forced himself on her. She then changed her story and said she texted the boy to come to her room because she wanted to talk to him.
Hart said she didn't really want to have sex with him, but they did end up having consensual sex. She claimed that sometimes when they had sex it was consensual, but other times it was not.
As for the boy's friends having sex with her, Hart said she was drunk and doesn't remember giving them consent.
She was arrested and charged with multiple counts of lewd and lascivious battery.
The woman who reported the incident told a Star-Banner reporter she has known Hart for four years and thought "she was a better person than that. It's very upsetting, and I'm very disappointed," she said.
She said she had a feeling something was going on and had heard rumors about the encounters. She said she confronted Hart about the allegations, but Hart denied them.
The woman said her son is doing "OK" and is probably "a little ashamed because of the situation."
