A Pinckney father pleaded guilty Wednesday to federal charges he produced child pornography, which included his sons and which he shared with a Texas man.
The 53-year-old father also pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Detroit to transporting a child to Illinois with the intent of engaging in sexual activity. Sentencing is set for Oct. 13.
According to the criminal complaint, the Pinckney man admitted in Internet chats obtained by agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that he sexually abused his children, ages 5, 8 and 9. Federal agents said they found seven images of the man's children on the Texas man's data-storage device and/or computers and that "at least three of the images constitute child pornography."
The Pinckney man's arrest came in December after international authorities followed e-mails in Australia and the United Kingdom.
He also faces similar charges in Livingston County Circuit Court. That case is set for trial in July.
The Daily Press Argus is not identifying the Pinckney man, or the Texas man who also is charged, because it will identify their children.
A trial date has been set in Genesee County Circuit Court for a former Tyrone Township couple charged in connection with the murder of a 4-year-old boy.
According to court records, Corrine Michelle Baker and her live-in boyfriend, Brandon Joshua-Frederick Hayes, are set for trial Sept. 7.
Baker is charged with second-degree murder for not doing enough to help her son, Dominick Calhoun, 4, whom police say was beaten to death by Hayes the weekend of April 8, 2010, at the couple's Argentine Township apartment.
Baker is also listed as a victim in charges lodged against Hayes, who is accused of beating Baker during the weekend her son died.
Judge Richard Yuille has taken motions under advisement in both cases, including whether to try the cases separately and whether to change venue. He also is considering whether Baker's and Hayes' separate statements to police should be heard by a jury.
Hayes is charged with multiple felony counts, including first-degree murder and torture. He also faces three drug-related charges.
The trial date for a Brighton man accused of possessing child pornography has been delayed.
Dale James Cardiff was initially set for trial June 15, but that has been adjourned to July 20, according to U.S. District Court records.
He is charged with possessing and receiving child pornography.
Officials said Cardiff admitted using the Internet and a site called DreamZone to view images and videos that he knew were child pornography.
Cardiff estimated that he viewed in excess of 600 child pornography images and 40-50 child pornography videos, authorities said. He also allegedly admitted that the images depicted children ages 6 to 18 having sex or in sexual situations with adults.
Some of the images and videos he viewed included infants having sex or in sexual situations with adults, according to court documents.
In addition, authorities found about 420 child pornography images and two videos on Cardiff's desktop and laptop computers, court records stated.
