The Cook County Sheriff's office says Thomas Twardzik of Ottawa is charged with one count of indecent solicitation of a child.
Officials say an undercover officer made contact with Twardzik in a chatroom in mid-April.
Twardzik allegedly said how old he was, and the two began chatting regularly. Police say he solicited sexual acts from the "girl" via text messaging and phone conversations.
He's being held on $125,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
