Porn | Police Job Applicant Nabbed For Child Porn

SAN DIEGO, May 18 (UPI) -- An applicant for a San Diego police job was arrested after admitting he had sexual contact with a child and had viewed child pornography, officials said.

The answers Robert Lee Williams, 38, of Chula Vista, provided on a long background questionnaire on April 23 motivated police to obtain search warrants on a storage unit and the apartment he shared with his wife, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Tuesday.

San Diego Police Officer Susan Righthouse, of the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force said Williams admitted at age 29 he tried to touch a sleeping younger cousin and at age 35 he had begun watching child pornography.

An investigation was launched and the warrant affidavit shows cameras, computers and images of "exotic girls," several hard drives, homemade DVDs and tapes, photocopied magazine pages and a notebook were seized as evidence.

Williams was arrested May 11 and is being held on suspicion of child pornography possession. Bond was set at $150,000 and Williams is scheduled to appear in Superior Court Monday.

Williams's wife called San Diego's KGTV station to read a statement on Williams's behalf following a television report on her husband's arrest.

Her statement said, "The San Diego Police Department has problems with the integrity of their officers because telling the truth during the hiring process brings prosecution upon those seeking employment. Mr. Williams told the truth, revealing his secrets, his thoughts, and his past. But he remains innocent of all charges they have illegally obtained. He is seeking expert counsel, pro bono."
