Porn | Girlfriend's Tip Sends Man To Jail In Child Porn Case

If you have videos of children being sexually abused by adults on your computer, it is probably not a good idea to let your new girlfriend use it.

However, that's exactly how a Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, man ended up getting arrested and slapped with child pornography charges.

William Andrew Beck, 48, was sentenced Monday to 15 months in jail after pleading guilty to possession of child porn.

Justice Donald Manderscheid of Edmonton's Court of Queen's Bench also placed Beck on probation for two years following his release and ordered him to submit a DNA sample for the national DNA databank.

Beck was placed on the national sex offender registry for 10 years and banned from working or volunteering with children or going alone to places where children under 16 could be, such as schools or playgrounds.

Crown prosecutor Craig Krieger told court that Beck had begun a relationship with a single mother in 2008 and had invited her over to his place for dinner.

During the date, Beck's home computer was used and the woman saw two videos of young children being made to engage in sex acts with adults, said Krieger.

The woman later contacted police, court heard.

Police seized Beck's computer and found a video depicting child sex abuse as well as evidence of deleted files that were described as illegal child abuse.

Police also found 203 child porn images and 161 pictures of child nudity as well as logs of online chats in which Beck pretended to be a mother of two children and a 16-year-old girl having sex with her father, court heard.

Beck, a welder and a commercial transport mechanic who is married to a woman with a teenage daughter, must also take treatment and counselling while on probation.
