DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) -- The Dubuque Community School Board has voted to fire an elementary school principal accused of hiding a camera in a boys restroom at the school and of downloading child pornography.
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports that the board voted 6-0 in an emergency meeting early Saturday to fire Sageville Elementary School Principal Robert Burke.
Superintendent Larie Godinez recommended firing Burke after what she said was his admission of guilt.
The 43-year-old Burke has pleaded not guilty to one count of receiving child pornography. A criminal complaint says an FBI agent downloaded eight images of child pornography from a computer that was later traced to Burke's residence in Dubuque.
The complaint says Burke admitted to investigators that he placing a camera in the bathroom. He denied he had molested any children.
