Porn | Police Arrest Cole Harbour Man On Child Porn Charges

Police officers quickly swooped down on a Cole Harbour man early Friday after getting a tip from the national child exploitation unit that he'd allegedly posted pornographic photos online.

Local officers arrived at the 51-year-old man's home on Atholea Drive at about 6:10 a.m. to make the arrest, RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae said.

The suspect, whose name hasn't been released, will face child pornography possession charges for allegedly uploading photos to a well-known social media site, police said. Officers seized a computer at the home.

The man was released from custody and ordered to reappear in court in Dartmouth at a later date, said MacRae.

He would not say whether the suspect had been posting photos to Facebook or another social media site.

"The best I can give you is a social networking site (was used) through the computer," said MacRae. "It's a popular site, let's put it that way."

About 10 images were allegedly placed online by the suspect.

"I don't have exact numbers," said MacRae.

"Right now, we don't believe there's any local children. Our investigators would certainly look at that aspect because we'd certainly want to rule that out. We do know they were on his computer."
